Heather Flower Bed Update
So a couple of years ago we planted heather on the bank out the front of our house!!
i didn’t use membrane to keep the weeds away(big mistake) so now a few years later I’m back to put the membrane down and make a proper flower bed!!

Before (there is actually heather under all those weeds)
All de weeded
There’s a gap here which we’re filling with some trees I’d grown in pots but are getting too big for the pots
These are the trees
We popped them in here to fill the gap
Lie the membrane flat over where you want cut an x where the plant is and pull it through
Here’s a video of how I did it
We lay sleepers down to hold the membrane
We got small pieces of wood cut them to size
We stood up the sleepers
Hammered the piece of wood to the front and back of the sleepers to hold in place
sleepers are finished!!!
We used 14 bags of bark!!

did you pull your weeds by hand🤨?
How do u keep the bark from washing down when it rains or when u water the plants
I've never had much luck keeping weeds out with membrane. They seem to find the light around the X's and force their way up through the wanted plants. Is there a trick I'm missing or do I just have a more relentless strain of weeds? I have broughm grass and bindweed on the property.
