What can I do with a couple of chairs with broken backs?

Mickey Baron on Sep 21, 2015I wish I had 2 chairs like this WITH the arms! Remove the 2 center arms & save the 2 outer. It makes the bench look so cozy. Envelopes you. *Lucky you!* Yes, you could add cane to the back of your chairs. Or, a tight knit lattice would be pretty. These will make a beautiful bench. Pinterest it!Helpful Reply

Kincaid99 on Sep 21, 2015How about a love bench, chairs facing opposite directions on bench, or you can rehab them, Remove the damaged pieces sticking out, fill in holes where used to be, cut out a piece of luan board the shape of the back, cover both sides with pretty matching material (may need ric rac on edge, maybe a little padding on the front and attach to back of chair with pretty tacks. and use as chairsHelpful Reply

Rose on Sep 21, 2015You can get a piece of chicken wire cut it to shape Matt it use material you like and use upholstery nail or a staple gun to attach to wood. Nails you may get in brown staples may have to be covered with wood putty.Helpful Reply

Janet Pizaro on Sep 21, 2015I would definitely go with the bench idea. The backs of the chairs are very impresive. .Depending on where you are going to use them I would also update the look with a different color either stain or paint.Helpful Reply

Judy on Sep 21, 2015I was thinking along the same lines as Martha Earles. You Tube has many videos on how to upholster dining chairs with backs. Study a few of them, and then go for it. These chairs are beautiful!Helpful Reply

The Redesign Habit on Dec 21, 2015I too would suggest making a pattern and just cutting new pieces to fit the shape of the back and upholster those. These chairs are awesome as they are. If you redo them in their current state, they will be beautiful! Good luck and please share what you do end up doing!Helpful Reply
