Temperpedic (sp?). Check around, when my sister ordered theirs they were allowed a 30 day trial. I got mine on sale and it is adjustable. I love it.

We love the Englander mattress. Best ever

@Denise Douzanis I bought an Englander queen bed in '85 with a 3 yr. unconditional guarantee and a 15 yr. warranty. There was a problem within the 3 yr. period and as long as it had to be replaced I paid some extra money and got tein beds in '88. They are still in use and in good condition. I guess I got my money's worth from them. I do have a very bad back and although the mattresses atr still good, I might benefit from a new pillow top mattress, Recently I went with my daughter to Sleepy's (I didn't see any Englander's) and she bought the Beautyrest. I tried it out and I like it very much.

Simmons Beautyrest with pillowtop. The best mattress we have ever had. It is a 'no flip' mattress and there is no movement transfer when either of us move in the bed, so we don't disturb each other.
  • I think you will find many people have an opinion and the one thing I am going to stress is look at the warranty! Do not go for any pro-rated warranty. My husband and I have been through 4 mattresses in 17 yrs of marriage and I can tell you that if you are a "light" person then many of the mattresses will be fine. We have had no flip and flip and found that flipping is the better combo if you or your spouse are over 220lbs. We have a mattress that we purchased 3 years ago from a national mattress maker which is supposed to not sag and has a 10 year warranty which sags and is the most uncomfortable bed we have ever had!. The first 6 months was great (it is a plush bed) and now we both wake up achy and I actually find I roll to the middle (we downsized to Queen the last time because of expense). We have had $400 mattresses and $2000 mattresses and neither one outperformed the other! We have a 10 year non pro-rated warranty so we are supposed to get a new mattress...which we already have their 2nd to the top of line mattress and it failed so what to do? We are going back to King and hoping that we can negotiate for a better price and better mattress since warranty means they only have to replace it. I cannot express enough about looking at warranty. I really wish I knew what beds the higher end hotels have so i can get one of them. LOL next time I am going to spend time in hotels to find the most comfort and then take the sheets off and look at the tag! Try the beds at the store and lay there, move around with your partner if you have one, and do not be fooled by the fast talking salespeople who will try to sell you the expensive mattress. A good mattress pad is a must too so that no fluids and stains can void your warranty! Good luck and you may want to check the Tempurpedic mattresses but check the internet for reviews on all mattresses and especially consumer reports. good luck

I love, love, love my memory foam. We ordered from Anglebeds.com. it was a leap of faith, no pun intended. Three things: if you go with memory foam get the thickest possible. We don't use a mattress pad because it changes the feel. And they are a pain to move. What ever you choose, do not skimp...money well invested in your health.

We spent over $2,000 on a name brand mattress that lasted 1 year! Then my husband did some research, found a site called 'Sleep Like the Dead." We bought a 'Bed In A Box.' Though I was skeptical, it has been the best mattress ever. I had sciatica, but have had no issues with it since we bought the bed. I can highly recommend it. Ours is medium density - as the firm is really hard and ours has the cooling gel. A must even though we live in Massachusetts! http://www.bedinabox.com/memory-foam-mattress-reviews.html

Comfort!! I love my King koil and its 14 years old and still in great shape!

Not sure I have the "best" mattress ever, that I love and have to tell you about, but do want to tell you about one brand to avoid! My husband and I overpaid for a highly touted Kings Down mattress and after 2 months had to get rid of it! It was nothing like it was advertised and we ended up literally in pain every morning! Plus their warranty sounded good at first, but ended up being a poor one indeed! We now use a far less expensive "bed in a box" that we got from Costco and it's great!

We bought and are very happy with a Sleep by Number topped with a 4" foam pad.
  • We have a Sleep number & LOVE it!!

We have bought 3 mattresses from the Original Mattress Factory each one a little different depending on who is going to sleep on it. We all love them! They are very comfortable, you can flip them and turn them so they will last longer. Also the price is great!

I have a Sleep Number Bed. It is so nice to be able to change firmness according to how I feel each night. My husband was furious when I ordered this bed. Now he won't sleep anywhere else. And I actually got an apology for his anger! Feel really refreshed and my back and hip don't hurt while I sleep.!

We have a memory foam mattress and haven't slept better.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Sleep Number bed! We've had it just over a year and are still just as happy with it today as we were when we first got it. I had really bad hip & lower back problems that have completely vanished since getting this bed. It's really worth the money.

In my opinion, trying to buy a mattress is far worse than buying a new car and I think that rates as excruciatingly painful. Ugh. My husband and I just went through the mattress buying experience 6 months ago to replace our 10+ year old Sleep Number bed that I absolutely hated--most uncomfortable bed ever! If I set my side soft enough, I was sleeping in a hole. Pump it up to avoid the dip and it was rock hard. Sleeping on the floor would have been more comfortable. We shopped several different stores and tried all the major brands. We found Tempurpedic too soft and squishy for us, plus we heard some people find them to be hot, which we definitely didn't want since we live in Florida. We settled on the Serta i Series mattress ( Applause model) which is a hybrid of individually wrapped coils, comfort foam, and cool action gel memory foam. Comfort-wise, it is absolutely heavenly. However, already after just 6 months, I am starting to see indentations where my husband and I lay (and a high spot in the middle) so I have serious concerns about how well this (very expensive) mattress is going to hold up for the long haul. No matter what brand or style bed you choose, I would recommend picking your retailer carefully in case you have problems. You want a retailer who offers good customer service and will stand behind what they sell. My husband and I purchased our mattress from JCPenney for this reason. If we have issues with the mattress and Serta doesn't treat us right, I believe from all my previous experiences with JCPenney, they will.

@Shari - been there done that. Sealy Posturpedic was the absolute worse, with Serta right up there with it. My husband did a lot of research and this is what we bought. http://www.bedinabox.com/memory-foam-mattress-reviews.html I was very, very skeptical, but I no longer suffer from sciatica. Ours is medium density with gel. It was far from the cheapest they offer, but well worth every penny spent. Oh...we also bought the foundation.

SLEEP NUMBER!!! Go to the closes Sleep Number store and lay on one of the beds. Best sleep I've ever had....So Glad I spent the extra money~~About $200 more~~ for a bed that will last 25 years or more. Best thing I could ever spend savings on :)

Another vote for Sleep Number. Plus, I put a Memory Foam (4") on top. LOVE my bed!!!

I've had a number of different mattresses, but my Tempur-pedic is by far the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on. Far superior to the Sleep Number bed for support and comfort.

I like a firm mattress and at home I sleep on a very dense foam mattress with no give at all. It's good for my back. We're on our third foam mattress in 30 years. Probably the BEST mattress I've had that was not foam is the Sealy I had in my country house. I got it at a half-price sale; it was expensive--over 1.000. When we sold the house about ten years ago, I put it on my daughter's bed--she loved it--and now it's in the guest room. People who've slept on it say it is the most comfortable mattress they've ever slept on, and that's my recollection as well. I see a number of people are pleased with sleep number beds. I'm wondering if you have to buy the entire bed or if you can just get the mattress.

I have slept on a water bed for over 30 years. Best investment for my back ever. When I am traveling I really miss my waterbed and so happy to get back home to sleep in my own bed. This bed has lasted through all 3 of my kids, and 7 dogs. If it springs a leak just patch it up and good to go again. finally had to replace the mattress after 31 years. Do not have to worry about bed bugs or other things like in regular mattresses. When I change the sheets I just wipe the mattress down with a wet cloth and then a dry towel and put on clean sheets.

I bought my mattress from 'The Home Of Wool' (https://www.etsy.com/shop/TheHomeOfWool). They make pure wool mattresses. I was very satisfied with the quality of fabrics (100% natural cotton, wool, silk, flax), craftsmanship and customer service. My wife and I decided to change our son's foam mattress and our choice is, naturally, 'The Home of Wool' again.
