  • These are the doors with hardware removed before painting.
  • During painting. I used latex satin paint and about 1/4 cup of plaster of paris added to 1/2 of the quart of paint. You can add some water to thin a bit. It takes 2 coats, but covers everything. No priming needed.
  • After paint dries, i distress edges with sand paper and then use the clear wax all over and add a bit of the dark wax to some areas. Let dry and buff with rag.

Repainted Secretary Desk

I found this beautiful piece at a yard sale the other day. A couple coats of primer and paint and some new hardware and this statement piece is functional!

Ripping carpet off the stairs

One of my favorite projects to date, ripping off old carpet, adding molding and painting my old stairs and adding a runner. I'm working on a 1979 house renovation now with stairs just ...»
like these and I've got some fun plans for them too. This time, I'm going to add pine stair treads and will paint them and add a pretty runner. Stay tuned for that one! In the meantime, this might give you some ideas if you have carpet you hate! I detest carpet on stairs.
