About Me:

I'm passionate about alternative healing arts, I'm a Reiki Practitioner & studying the ancient art of Herbalism, I find it very rewarding to help people & especially being able to empower others with the knowledge & skills to live a happier healthy lifestyle. I love organic gardening, especially when I can use some of the herbs from my garden when making herbal medicine. I also make organic all natural personal care products, shampoo & conditioner, hair spray & styling gel, face moisturizer, wrinkle cream, body lotion, face wash, deodorant, toothpaste, etc. I'm just starting to make organic makeup, face powder, blush & eye shadow I get the best of both worlds by making my own, outstanding quality ingredients & no toxic chemicals. My products will soon be available on my Etsy page.

Favorite area of home improvement:

gardening, yard, outdoor living, shabby chic, & Victorian looking projects

  • I like to grow a wide variety of carrots in all different colours. You'll need flour, water, a paint brush or pencil, ruler, seeds, and fine tip marker.
  • Add a tiny bit of water to flour to make a sticky paste.
  • Dab the brush in the flour glue and pick up a seed.
  • Set the seeds on the tape at the recommended distance apart. Write the seed names on the tissue with a fine tip marker. Allow everything to dry.
  • Plant the seed tapes at the recommended seed planting depth. The toilet paper will gradually dissolve. This method has provided me with a huge bounty of carrots. 2

How To Make Seed Tapes For Planting Tiny Seeds

Some tiny seeds can have poor germination rates because the wind, rain, or birds carry them away. To counter this, I started making seed tapes for certain crops like carrots. Now, not ...»
only has the germination rate been excellent, but the carrots grow at set distances apart so there's no need for thinning the seedlings.

There's several options-I like using toilet paper, flour, and water. I've provided more information below and on my blog.

  • Herbs and flowers hang from a trellis. With daily watering they did great in the well draining pots, plus they provided a beautiful scent and tasty ingredients for our summer cooking! 1

  • An organic, raised garden table, planted by the square foot method using companion herbs and flowers...and a little veggie bling.
  • 1. Companion Flowers -
Marigold, Petunia and Zinnia are the cheerleaders of veggie teams. 1
  • 2. Trellis -
Keep it light and simple. Pictured here are two inexpensive bean tents that were snipped at the hinges to make four trellis panels. 3
  • 3. String Ribbon -
Use reflective ribbon pinned by shiny thumbtacks to stake out your square foot garden. Adds color and keeps the birds away.
  • 4. Beneficial Herbs -
Plant basil, chamomile, thyme and other herbal veggie companions. Add color and fragrance to your garden while repelling pests.
  • 5. Beads -
Better bling than pinwheels. String inexpensive Mardi Gras beads to add sparkle and pop. In dusk, they give the illusion of holiday lights. 1
  • 6. Whimsy -
Every garden must have a gnome but consider adding toys like small animals and action figures.
  • We're adding dinosaurs this year.
  • Now that we have the Garden Stamp, we are setting aside the yardstick and extra ribbon to focus on planting square foot patterns of edible color. 1
  • Stamped out.
  • Update: It worked!
  • For 2013: Don't neglect those containers. See our post on this simple bamboo & ribbon pea trellis.
