PAINTING TIP: Here's a nifty trick anyone can (should) do.

(since you take it off to paint anyway). Then its ALWAYS available and never lost! This is a good idea for you contractors out there as a service to your customers.

SHOWER GLASS TIP:

Use "Rain-X" on your shower door (clean it first). AMAZING! Water sheets off and resists soap scum. Repeat a couple times a year. Works Like A Charm!

Buy firewood in the spring when it's cheap. Logs will dry out and be ready to burn by the time snowflakes fall.

Cost: Time stacking wood in a dry spot outdoors so that it can season in the open air.

Savings: Up to $100 per cord. ...»

Bonus: In the off-season, you won't run into any shortages of your favorite hardwood.

  • BX Gone
  • "plate" under sink and lines fixed. bx connected to disposal.
  • Down draft hard piped. Gas relocated. Junction box.
  • New bottom on cab. gas and wires gone.

The pitty is that this is a "fix" and not what it was supposed to be which is a GOOD install.

Enough of that now, it's out of my system. Going to go back to just answering questions and comments.

  • Oh My ! What a Mess!

We've been seeing a lot of this kind of work done by folks that claim to be a contractor.

We bid this job a year ago and I lost it to a low bid...... they called us in 9 months later to fix this job which was nothing more than vandelism. I hope no home owner has to go through this.

  • Oh My "Part Deaux"... Here's what some "contractor" thought was a junction box.... YIKES!
  • Same "contractor" missed his gas stub out... and forgot what the wire was for!

I hope Burger Joints start hiring soon so I don't have to clean up these messes.

Remember folks, it IS your Home. Businesses that devote time to answer your questions and give you tips are trying to "hone their chops" by educating themselves and doing research. We ...»

hole in the wall stud and run the wire through. Instead they stripped the wire bare so that it would lay flat against the stud when they put the drywall over it! You can bet it wasn't fun when I reached my hand in there to rip the drywall down!

Loose screw in a door hinge? No Problem!

3 toothpicks and glue is all you need. Dip toothpicks in glue. push into hole. Cut flush w/jamb and reinsert srew! NOTE: Works well with simply stripped out screws.
