About Me:

A little about me? Well...I live in the suburbs of Columbia, South Carolina (the great state as Strom Thurmond would have said) 2 hours from the beach and 3 from the mountains. I am definitely a southern girl which means, I like warm weather, I am barefoot or in flip-flops most of the time, I love my monogram on everything (it's even on my blog!) and I say "Ya'll". I have 4 handsome boys ranging in age from 25 – 9, a sweet daughter-in-law and the most wonderful husband in the world who is currently in Afghanistan trying to make a better world for future generations.

Favorite area of home improvement:

I love every aspect of home improvement with the exception of cleaning and that home improvement I do because I have to not because I "Like" it! ;)

Repurposing & Upcycling: Any ideas on uses or crafts for baseball caps?

Cleaning out closets and drawers and finding way too many hats. Hats from jobs, promotions, places visited, funny sayings, etc. I've seen ideas for ties and clothing, but not the baseball type and other hats. Any ideas?

Never thought about it until now but I am the mother of 4 boys and my husband is a baseball ...»
cap lover so we are never in short supply of caps. I bet if you cut the brims off and layered them you could get an interesting valance for a window. Now that I'm thinking about it I might just have to try that since my 10 year old just told me he wanted to redo his room with a baseball theme. I'm thinking I could use the front panels with the team logos as art in there too.

How to Make a Colorful Sign With Dollar Store Letters

I found these cute MDF letters in all sorts of sizes at the Dollar Store. I painted them up, attached them to a piece of wood that I painted a beautiful blue and glued some fun pieces to dress it up at little more. Such a fun project!!

  • This quirky, double wide sized pallet wood chair is all decked out, ready for a great summer read.
  • Two pallets, 4 legs and two armrest boards are really all it took. So easy! The trick is to ensure you find two pallets that are similar in size.
  • Let's add more quirk to make it totally yours! This signboard was used as an armrest. Note how wide the board is... perfect for my coffee cup. Priorities here...
  • This leg has an antique level attached. This project is a little like 'Where's Waldo's Wild Additions?'
  • Pallet markings were celebrated by placing them in prominent places. Coffee bean sacks acting like large pillow cases were just tucked in place. No sewing required. 2
  • For the legs, a little bracing was required inside the pallet so the leg had something to stabilize against.
  • Tell me that isn't one big cool chair to curl up in! But let's add some comfort...
  • 5" foam cut to size (new from a foam shop) was key for the ultimate comfort.
  • This is a pallet SOFA I made last year, decked out in total bohemian style craziness. The build is much more size customized: http://www.funkyjunkinteriors.net/2011/08/how-i-built-pallet-sofa-part-2.html

pallets and little more. I kid you not! This is the easiest build in the world and you'll wonder why you didn't think of it first!
