  • The leggy Little Trunk Table. Ideal for the front entry. Store your seasonal clothes, mittens, toques, scarves and more, and have a great table top for everything else for the rest of the season! 1
  • Sette. Create an inner skeleton, add a bench seat in there that flips up, 6 inch foam on the base, 4 on the back, covered with a lot of fluffy stuffing then some great fabric. Storage bench - settee!
  • Another version of the Trunk Settee, using more rustic and neutral tones. The sunken bench seat also flips up for storage underneath
  • Attach all the hardware, and slice off the end, add some new hinges, and you have a great trash can, or laundry hamper that opens vertically as well to pull the bags out!
  • One of my first trunk creations put in use by local photography studio - Glimpse Imaging.ca She made a great prop! The trunk that is !!!

Repurposing trunks. One of my Favourite Things to do!

I absolutely love trunks! I can just go ahead and call myself a Trunk Junk-y !!! They are gorgeous and can be so much more than a moth ball smelling attic time capsule! Inventing new ways ...»
to make these come back to life is such a fun challenge to me! I hope the inspiration flows over to your DIY tendencies! www.facebook.com/gypsy for more inspiration

  • This is the finished bench. The colors remind me of a gypsy wagon. I toiled over the colors for a year and finally was inspired by the color on a plastic tumbler. I took it to the lumber yard and they matched the color. 23
  • This is the bed how I bought it from the thrift store for $35.00.
  • This is the bed with the footboard turned upside down and it fashioned into a bench before the painting started. 3
  • Got it all sanded and primed and still had no idea what color it was going to be. 1
  • First color. Deciding what should be what color was the fun part!

  • The After Picture of the Chirpy Chippy Dresser. She is the only piece so far we haven't allowed to go up for sale, that's how much we love her! We allowed the natural Mahogany to show through as the wood of the tree. 6
  • The Little Mahogany Chipped Dresser when she arrived at the house....... I loved her just like that - but she was missing something .......
  • The latest Chip out design. We love doing these! Each drawer, after the design, chipping, detailing and layered waxes, took approx 4 hours... yes, each drawer..... 2

Chipping Old Paint for Beautiful Designs

Sometimes, a piece is naturally *chippy* to perfection, but still lacking that finesse for the "wow" factor, so I decided to give it a hand with a little extra chipping. It is a very ...»

  • This rustic piece started as an old discarded cabinet with broken handles. 2
  • We used old branches from the yard as hardware in keeping with the rustic look 1
  • A cat flap and vent were added. 1
  • The cabinet was gutted with the drawer fronts mounted on wood and hinged to open freely to clean the litter box 1
  • Coco started using it that day, and it's been wonderful to have the litterbox out of the bathroom. Coco loves the privacy too. 3

You'll never guess what's inside this cabinet..

Take a guess what's on the inside of this rustic piece. You'd probably never expect it. An old discarded cabinet takes on a whole new purpose.

The entire makeover can be seen at Recaptured Charm.
