As promised... here are the before and after photos of my kitchen.
I loved my kitchen... but it was dark and moody, especially in the evenings so...
I decided to lighten and brighten it by painting out the dark lower cabinets, island base and stools in the white of the upper shelves. I also refinished the repurposed island top to a beautiful natural finish.I like the results. It feels more open and airy.
Oh for the love of shutters... They define, add impact, texture and detail to a home. Why is it then that I have never had them on any home we have lived in? I don't have a good answer,
what I do have now... is shutters!! Yes, that's right, we bit the bullet and got to work.Twenty-two shutters cut, assembled, sanded, primed, painted and installed later...Have no doubt, there was eye rolling involved! I really need to start designing houses with less windows... note to self. Anyway, We have shutters!Come on over to A Button Tufted Life today and see the whole story.I would love to know what you think! http://cynthiaweber.com/hoop-top-house-gets-...
Here's an easy way to add a little drama and character to an old house window. When we purchased the farmhouse we completely remodeled the kitchen includint the window. We spent most of
our budget on countertop and cabinets and hardware.....so I came up with this easy project to add a some architectural interest without breaking the bank! Simply frame out the window with 1x6's caulk and paint. The before picture is worth the price of admission alone.
