About Me:

These days my biggest challenge is to go and 'look' at a nursery and NOT bring home any plants. Next to that challenge is moving all of the outdoor ones that I intend to keep back indoors in the Fall. I guess, they are like children to me.

Favorite area of home improvement:

I am told that it is a sign of an 'unstable' mind to move furniture etc around. Though I would love to have an outdoor fireplace to sit around on cool evenings.

Carpentry / Woodworking: Have some older(~100 yrs) furniture w/wood (thin boards, not plywood)backs - looks very dry.

How best to "feed" the wood? Thanks.

I have had that problem as well and used Liquid God. Not the spray but the actual liquid. Good ...»

I guess this isn't a home improvement question, but more of a design question.

We're still working on the Shabby Chic transformation of my bedroom... And aside from wanting to create a mural of birds with a garden feel, I came across this wonderfully shabby chic picture and want to try my hand at something similar. However this is the only picture I can find of it. Has anyone seen this before and do you know of the artist? I'm presuming it dates back to the 1920's, but that's as far as I know.

Love the picture. Can you incorporate a green and pink color scheme into your room?

Outdoor Living: I want to install a pond on my property.

We have a low spot that would be perfect. It is probably 1/3 - 1/2 acre in size. Does anyone know of a reputable source that can take on this project?

I have a pond in my back yard, not as large as you are planning. I use Rich Carter, ...»
PondScapes Atlanta a lot. Rich is great and has done other ponds for my friends. His phone is 678-908-4151. If you call him, please give him my regards. He is most knowledgeable and we even trade fish and plants.

  • What plants did these three yellow leaves come from?

Test your "leaf lingo" and win a $250 Home Depot gift card!

I love the golden leaves of fall -- so much so that I took a photo of three of them from my landscape. Can you name all three?

Post your guess in the Comment box below and we'll announce the winner here Monday.

(In case we have multiple correct entries, Hometalk will conduct a random drawing from among them to determine the winner.) Have fun!

Georgia Fan Alert !

This Cumming, GA homeowner wanted to extend his alumni pride all the way to his basement garages. We hand painted the college logo into his floor. Like it? (Sorry Tech fans,,,,), how about a "thumbs up"?
