About Me:

I am a very crafty person. I like making old things into new things and new things int o old. I'm also in to scrap booking and I love outdoors. I love working in a garden and I love landscaping. I try hard to make things unique. I'm a very unusual person and I love out the ordinary kinda of stuff. If you like something I have done let me know. ifs its something you would like to know how it was done ask me.

Favorite area of home improvement:

I love gardening but I love landscaping the most. I love taking spaces and making them in to better or more interesting spaces. I love being creative and just enjoy making things more unique.

Tutorial: Garden Sunflower From Plastic Spoons

I used 100 plastic spoons to make a sunflower for my backyard. I dug around in my closet and found a plastic tray that once was used at an office party. I brought home the lid to the coffee can from work to use as the center. I rummaged through my son's bag of pipe cleaners and dug out all the black ones and a couple of the yellow ones.

  • "Before" ~ a few shrubs and tons of ivy and pachysandra. The side and backyards were so depressing I don't even have true "Before" pictures! 2
  • "After" ~ added and enlarged flower beds, arbors, a gazebo and other garden accents enhance the landscape. 8
  • "After" ~ a side yard full of ivy becomes a gazebo garden.
  • "Before" ~ side yard looks bleak even after ivy was cleared, a mulch path put in and new fencing for the dogs put up.
  • "After" ~ the garage is now a garden room, and a shade garden, deck and arbor have been added.
  • "After" ~ Three dead trees cut down and new flower beds and mulched paths made.

5 Years ~ Before & After in Our Fairfield Garden

Hard to believe but we just marked our fifth anniversary in our "new" old house. Many , many projects later, we still have a few major improvements to finish. This spring is exterior ...»
painting and new garage doors, but we are hiring those done. Even though I'm a good painter and have painted houses before , inside and out, my ladder days are over!

For me, the most rewarding changes have been accomplished in the landscape. My best friend teased the daylights out of me when we bought a house with "tortured shrubbery" (clipped into box and spiral shapes). But it was a half acre after a tiny lot and, even though two-thirds of it was covered in ivy and pachysandra, I knew there was a wonderful garden waiting to happen. And, there was a garden shed and an extra garage on the back of the house to store all my garden tools, pots and whatnot!

Time to finish my penny gazing bowling-ball.

I pick up pennies off the side walks so it doesn't cost me a penny...(hehehe).

I painted the bowling ball with copper paint first - then glue on the pennies with Goop ...»

glue. I leave the holes so people can see it is a bowling ball.
