I just started the siding install at my cabin. My memorial day weekend was spent working on ...»
my own place for a change. We chose hardi plank for the "traditional" look but also for its fire resistance. Our cabin is a 6 hour drive from our main home and in the desert SW sagebrush can burn FAST. We have a metal roof and will install metal "skirting". Being in a remote location means progress is slow and patchy depending on our visits, but each trip brings us a bit closer to completion. I was cutting this with my 7 1/2" worm drive saw set up with a diamond blade designed for hardiplank...this was power from my simple solar system...which was keeping up just fine. Its pleasant to not have to run the generator for these occasional cuts.

    • hardi-plank siding start
    • west side primed and the first coat of paint up...
