I have found that if you don't want to transplant, you can just make several straight cuts ...»
through the roots and it will revitalize them. Division without movement. But still do it in the fall.

Gardening: What are some good plants for starting an herb garden?

I'm finally ready to start a garden on my balcony and I'm looking to start with herbs since they're fun to cook with, they smell nice, and I've heard that they're relatively easy to care ...»
for and can survive in a pot. Where to start?? Please let me know if there are any plants that you would particularly recommend for a potted herb garden. And go easy on me, I'm new at this!;-)

Review: JELD-WEN Doors

I'm halfway through replacing all our interior doors. These six panel doors are very economical and easy to install.

I also replaced my old doors with these and painted all my trim bright white. The house is 26 ...»
yrs old and there was some floor sag that caused the need for planing. One door cracked and had to be replaced, so work lightly. Once done the house looked amazing, huge facelift.

Stacked Herb Bed

I wish I could take full credit for this genius idea, but I originally saw a similar version on Pinterest. Modifications I made to my herb bed:

- Added locking wheels. Since I live in the Pacific Northwest where days of rain can water log my little plants (early season) I wanted to be able to move it around -- also helps with getting the sun. You never ...»

know what time of day we might get that precious five minutes!

- Slatted the bottom and lined with weed fabric for drainage.

- I used untreated cedar wood

I must give credit to the person who originally blogged about this awesome idea! Art and Appetite at http://www.artandappetite.com/2011/04/desert...

  • I love the symmetrical look of this gallery wall.
  • The aqua color of the sea fans coordinates with the bench that sits at the table.
  • The sea fans are very easy to work with. Simply spray paint and adhere to paper or a mat.
  • The frames are basic frames that have been spray painted gold.

Front Porch Privacy

I took lattice panels that had been in my back yard and put them around my front porch to create a little sense of privacy from my very close neighbors. I plant mandevilla vines growing up them in the summer which creates a nice touch of red in spots on the lattice.
