Outdoor Living: How do you make a red mulch or river rock walk way and not have grass grow up through it?

For example, in a garden walkway or beside a house?

Landscaping fabric or plastic should be put down below the mulch/rock.

  • We started by ripping out the single hanging pole and shelf, which made a mess. After some drywall repair a fresh two coats of white made it ready to start.
  • We picked up a $170 closet maid kit from home depot, attached the top rails and started playing with layout, here we've mocked up the final layout.
  • Finally we marked (with all shelves etc in place) the holes for the vertical shelf brackets, and attached them. We put in the shelves and added a dash of good style.

My Master Closet Turns into HER Master Closet

  • Now, the green can be fixed, with a little bit of white!
  • looking better already!
  • Doors are next on the list.
  • Then Drawers!
  • So much closer!
  • Frames are the easy part!
  • Ahhh, so much better!
  • We opted to paint the trim around the windows to match the wall for two reasons: There just wasn't enough space between it and the cabinets to have it be white, and the trim around the two windows was different on each (new vs old).

water issues are taken care of. I cleaned the walls and floor really well, brushed all the loose concrete off, and then went to work.

First we sealed any cracks or holes with hydraulic cement to make sure we stay dry.

Then, we used UGL Drylok sealant. Finally we moved some storage racks in, and viola!
