  • We built a deck around our above ground pool and made out own bench. Using outdoor fabrics and a few things we already had we made it a cozy spot to sit and watch the kids swim! 2
  • I monogrammed a few pillows for fun. Since I have an etsy shop and do my own monogramming, I loved coming up with my own ideas for the pillows!

Make your own outdoor furniture

We had a spot that I just couldn't find the right furniture for, so I thought, "Why not make my own?!" We went to Pottery Barn for inspiration, but the prices were way out of our range. ...»

We had a bunch of scraps from other projects so we gathered them up and build the bench ourselves. I bought foam for the seats with a 50% coupon and made them myself. After just 2 weekends of work I was sitting by the pool enjoying the shade under the big tree.

  • Broken slats can be repaired easily by swapping it out for a perfectly good one on the bottom.
  • Swap out slats using the same technique used to shorten blinds. Pop off the plastic buttons on the bottom of the blinds.
  • Remove the pull cords up to the broken slat. Replace the slat with one from the bottom.
  • Re-thread the pull cord through all slats, replace plastic buttons on the bottom and presto!! 1
