About Me:

Passionate gardener and having a blast creating our nautical inspired "bubble" aka home

Favorite area of home improvement:

If money were no object I would say directing contractors LOL. But alas it's an issue so I have to say I love the planning to get from that picture I have in my head to the actual results. Love to find ideas online and turn them into my own version.

Stunning! Is the floor tile (that looks like wood) or is it really wood?

  • first some before pix of the great room taken when I was buying this place
  • the other side of the room shows the fireplace before I started
  • This pix shows the transformation taking place. Everything is getting looked at with LIGHT in mind. Brown fireplace goes white, beige walls go grey...
  • Carpet comes out and hardwood goes down in a natural red oak.
  • Shows the finished room,
  • Brighter and what we call home. The room is small and the glass table gives us function without clutter.

Going Nautical DIYing It Ourselves

Sharing some before and after photos of the re-do for my new (old) home. Learning as we go is fun but learning our limits (physical & mental) has been a challenge. I have to say that we ...»
constantly had to repeat to ourselves that we would be done someday and could sit back and chill. I'm not too sure that's true for anyone who owns a home, there is always something...

DIY Nautical Rope Mirror

I love the texture and rustic nature of rope. Here is a plain mirror I picked up at a thrift store that I transformed into a nautical rope mirror. Check out my blog for the tutorial.

I'm so glad you replied, I really did worry about my question being perceived as criticism ...»
which it totally wasn't. I thought there was a legit reason for not using one strand, like kinks or the rope would reach up and bite you or something LOL! Thanks I have just one more question. What do you think would happen if I tried this on a rectangular mirror? OK, OK I admit, I'm chicken. I do have a mirror that this made me go Hmmm, wonder if this is a solution... I might try it, I have all the "ingredients". Stay tuned, coming to a theatre near you!

  • Need some texture and color for your outdoor table? Try these easy rope-wrapped and painted terra cotta pots!
  • I started with a simple terra cotta pot!
  • Starting at the top, I used my glue gun to attach the rope.
  • I finished up wrapping the pot with rope. I snipped the rope off with scissors, and secured it down with hot glue.
  • Using left-over turquoise latex paint from another project and a standard paint brush, I painted the base of this pot.
  • Perfect outdoor centerpiece!

Rope-Wrapped & Painted Pots!
