Oh my gosh. It's almost the exact same lamp I was looking for in brushed nickel. I finally ...»
gave up and got one with a white fabric shade at Target. Maybe I need to stop into Gordman's more often. It looks great in Oil Rubbed Bronze too.

    Cute kitty.

Gardening: Have some irises that hardly bloom anymore. I want to move them to a place that will be a little sunnier, altho my yard

is NOT very sunny. Can I do the transplant now or is it better to do it another time?

Transplanting them now is good. However, whenever I've transplanted some irises, I didn't get ...»
a bloom until the next year so keep that in mind. Don't give up on them if you don't seem them blooming right away!

  • I removed the drawers on the left side, thinking the cable box, etc. will go in the top. I'm wanting some baskets in the bottom two. 2
  • Behind these heinous doors are more drawers, which will stay and hold DVD's and such.
  • These are tiny little apothecary drawers. Initially I thought to remove that entire top piece all together and that's still floating out there.

Painting: I need some creativity love!

I picked this monster up at the thrift store for a whopping 40 bucks. My plan is to make it into a media console for our TV. At issue is, I NEED SOME ADVICE! I'm open to whatever you ...»
throw at me. Paint? Stain? Designs? My initial though is to paint it because it's just not that nice of wood. Cheap pine I think. Think 80's waterbed wood.

Wow! Awesome ideas! I especially loved SLS's idea of removing part of the "apothecary" drawers ...»
to slide the TV into it. HOWEVER - we put the monster TV on top and it pretty much covers every one of those apothecary drawers. So we either put the TV up on TOP of the little drawers or remove them. The husband already thinks the TV is sitting too high so I doubt it'll be that route. I do want to try and recycle them somehow like Becky suggested. They can be removed without damaging the top but I'm almost thinking of replacing the entire top and have a nice beveled edge around it. Check out what Tami did to her ugly old dresser: http://tamicurbalert.blogspot.com/2012/10/po.... Awesome!!! Thanks everyone!! I'll keep you posted!!!

  • Using small pinecones found in our backyard, I made these sweet little holiday decorations!
  • The colors for our Christmas decor start outside and carry into our home: red, chartreuse, aqua, and gold. I painted the pots to match.
  • Once you gather your supplies, you can make these in 15 minutes!
  • Paint the tiny pots, add course glitter paint, place pinecones in the pots. Easy!

Cabinets: Can I replace the panel insert with glass?

I want to take the panel insert out of the cabinet doors above the fridge and replace it with leaded glass. One repairman told me that the insert is too flimsy to hold glass. (referring to the routered edge that the glass would rest on) I really want the glass look. I'd love a second opinion and/or suggestions for other options.
