  • Huge hairy legs! I believe this one traveled through a nuclear power plant area in transit to my home, which would explain the size and coloring.
  • Which witch hat???? The one that coordinates with the nuclear spider........of course. Purchased the hat at a local store and enhanced with ribbon and black foliage and balls. 1

Spider

Eeeek............everyone has been sharing spiders. Thought I'd share this one for ID. Ha, ha...........just begining to get ready for Halloween. Suspended this one near the front ...»

  • With the removal of the viburnum tree, support for the bougainvillea was needed. (view from gate)
  • It's nothing fancy, but will work just beautifully for the bougainvillea and plantings around it! I'm pleased as punch!!
  • Looking up. 1

New arbor for bougainvillea support.

I returned from a girl's week to find my dear hubby had made the simple arbor I'd requested as a birthday gift. I'm so pleased!!

Finally blooming

It has been so many years since this orchid bloomed, I forgot what color it was. For some reason, I had thought it was yellow, but it turned out to be simple white. Far less flamboyant than any of its cousins.

Good night. I'm heading out myself as soon as I check the last notification. Well I hope there's only one still.

  • An old viburnum..........served well.

Viburnum tree: Going, going, gone.

Hated to lose this tree, but between being topped by a microburst, trimmed, attacked by bores, then fungus, we had to bid it a sad farewell.

Oh that's a wonderful idea Becky. I took quite a few pictures that day. It was just so pretty. ...»
This was before we heard of the disease so I had not clue what I was photographing other than something I felt was beautiful.

Day-glo accents

Neon blooms on bromeliads. I always love this time of year, when the bromliads pop their heads up to say hello.

I'm far from an expert on propagation, but I do know that false blue ginger (Dichorisandra ...»
thyrsiflora) is propagated from stem cuttings, because I bought a couple of tiny ones at Boktoberfest at Bok Tower Garden last year. Sharron has nothing to lose by trying.

  • The first two blooms of this season. If you look closely, you can see the promising spikes preceding new blooms.
  • Look for the pink spikes/buds; this is just a few of those on the plant.

Birds are coming out!

Sherrie, I feed it the Osmacote (sp?) for flowers and veges. The soil it's in has to be ...»
somewhat acid, since it's under the canopy edge of an oak tree. I don't do anything partiularly special for it, beyond what I do for my other plants (ie. insect control, acid lovers, roses, etc.). I know the lack of blooms is disappointing, but the vase shape of this plant is nice, and the foliage is unique and tropical. I sure wouldn't give up on it!!
