Over the weekend and in about 45 minutes my husband and I built this simple shelf between two bookshelves. It now houses my desk accessories, telephone and computer backup. It consisted of one board for the shelf, a face board for the front of the shelf and two pieces of wood (cleats) that were nailed into the cabinets.
