Flooring: Pine flooring? Yay or nay

Anybody out there ever use 1 x 8 or 1 x 10 simple pine boards for flooring? Thinking it could be less expensive than hardwood and there's a plan to possibly sand, prime, paint anyway. Thoughts?

Yep, pine wood flooring is plenty hard enough. Ours has survived 3 rough kids, 5 dogs, 5 cats ...»
and lots of wear and tear. It will eventaully show nicks... My Real Estate buddy loves the nicks and made me promise not to sand them away.
