Keeping the clutter off the counter

Do you hate the various piles on your kitchen counter? One of my top goals this year is to stop the clutter. With the simple addition of a wall storage system I was able to organize my ...»
kitchen supplies as well as miscellaneous items.

There is no Ikea in the whole state of Indiana. I went on their website and you cannot order ...»
this system. It is only available in the store so I put everything that I wanted into a "shopping list" and emailed it to my sister in Illinois. She went to her local Ikea with my shopping list and got me everything that I wanted.

What to do with fireplace ashes

There are many more uses for fireplace ashes than I ever knew. 1. Compost bin - only a little amongst the organic matter. 2. A light layer around plants can keep slugs away. 3. A ...»
tablespoon of ash to 1000 gallons of water for a pond will keep algae down.. 4. As a fertilizer. 5. Cleaning silver.

Can you give more ways to use ashes?

Painted Kitchen Cabinets & Countertops

Yup, cabinets AND counters! The original cabinetry was in perfect shape (only a few years old) but was horribly ill-planned when I picked the colors while building the house. Our kitchen ...»
has no direct sunlight or natural light sources and tended to be VERY dark 90% of the day. We decided to add some undermount lighting to see if that would brighten the space but only made the rest of the room feel even darker. I stumbled upon the Rustoleum Cabinet and Countertops Transformation kits and thought "It can't be that bad.". Let me tell you painting a kitchen this large by yourself (hubs doesn't paint) is not fun. The countertops are really easy to do and only take 2 days + dry time to finish. The cabinets took me a solid week of sun up to sun down but I think all in all the final product is amazing. It's been a while now and they are still in perfect condition like the day I finished. I highly recommend these products!

Check out my blog {Thrifty Inspirations} for more info about the products http://www.thriftyinspirations.net/2012/07/k...
