Rotted retaining wall becomes and aquascape miracle. Project showcase- How we went from ugly walls to beautiful cascade!

This total backyard renovation started with the need to replace an old rotted wood retaining wall. There was loud road noise directly behind it, and our clients were looking for a ...»
solution. The combination of large boulders and landscaping stabilizes the hill. The sound of the waterfall masks the road noise. The result was an updated backyard with a stepping stone path that leads through a 7' high cascading waterfall that guests can walk under, and a stream into a pondless reservoir. This new walk under waterfall is the focal point for the renovated pool and patio space. Project by Deck and Patio Company Huntington Station New York. • Directions for making this cute container water garden can be found at http://www.aquascapeinc.com/index.php?page=articles&a_id=55. 2
  • A whimsical dripping pot adds fun to your garden. Add a glass globe for visual interest.
  • A simple fountain - but be forewarned - your dog will probably enjoy getting a drink here!
  • Got an old bathtub? Don't toss it ... stick it in the garden and fill it with aquatic plants and a fountain! 3
  • If you love waterlilies but don't have a pond, simply grow them in a water-tight container. Be sure they receive at least 6 hours of full sun. 1
  • Another whimsical fountain created with a teapot and cup. 11
  • Garden centers carry patio ponds made specifically for container water gardens.
  • You can always use a container you have on hand. This one was sealed to make it water tight. A few water lettuce plants float on top.

Landscape Lighting For Your Home and Landscape

The way to achieve extraordinary results from landscape lighting:

1. Choose lighting that does not overpower your landscape. ...»

2. See the effects of the lights without seeing the source.

3. Use low voltage whenever possible. LED's are worth looking into.

4. Remember that your eye will automatically go to the brightest light source so make sure the the bulbs are receiving consistent voltage to each fixture.

  • The finished project is just awesome! The landscapers that hired us finished out the look after we were through with our part. 1
  • Let's get it started! The rock has been delivered and is waiting just behind the back fence for us!
  • Two Signature Series Skimmers have been installed and attached to the liner and the fun begins--creating multiple beautiful waterfalls from the bottom up!
  • The rock work is moving right along. The hard part is waiting till the whole thing is finished to turn it on!
  • Finally! After days of moving and setting heavy rocks by hand, we can finally turn it on and listen to the sound of the waterfalls as we finish up the rest of the details. Very relaxing.

James Wanted a Twenty Two-Foot Wide Waterfall in his Sugarland, Texas Backyard

He was quite specific about not wanting plants growing anywhere in the water feature and he didn't want to have fish either. This one was all about the waterfall. We used two Aquascape ...»
Skimmers and split the water flow between four waterfall spillways. The waterfalls were constructed in using varying techniques so that the water falls off of the stones in different ways, creating a more natural look and a very interesting sound. The finished product is just beautiful and is the main focal point from the glass-walled back of the house.
