My humming crabapple tree...

The bees are so busy my tree is just humming!!! They pay no attention to me, their little legs are so full of good stuff they can hardly fly! I love the hum! Like the tree has a life of its own and is HAPPY!

my dish flowers...

Well I FINALLY got them made. I am not very happy with them, I think they look stupid with pvc stems I didn't paint. (I should) But the hostas are coming up and will surround them so ...»
maybe they will look better soon. I think I also am going to move them back further, to the neighbors ' ugly house' to detract maybe from their peeling paint etc. Any suggestions as to how I could have done them better? Different plates, rebar? (Which cost more than the plates did!) This is my first attempt after seeing the great ones on Ht, and I was very leery. But FINALLYYYY! tada! NEW PICTURES.....hostas growing in, I am happier, doesn't look so barren now! Next ones will be green pvc or whatever! @KELLY, GAIL

Painting my dishes for tiers!

Well, I did something I have never done before , so you all can tell me if it is a good or bad idea. I had some clear dishes ,( part of my stock pile), but they weren't very interesting. ...»
So I decided to spray paint them with a "hammered" bronze paint, I let them dry overnight and now we will see if the glue sticks to the one I painted on the bottom of the plate, and if they chip with jewelry thrown on them. If anyone has a better idea...please let me know. At least they are more interesting , than the plain jane dishes they were.

My first flower of Spring!

Except for pansies! Isn't this just so cool? We have a lumber mill that went out of business years ago. But instead of sending everyone on their way, the y converted the building into a ...»
workshop, where the employees could do crafts and then take to a refurbished building to sell. EVERYTHING at this shop, (and it is big) is made by local former employees. I fell in love with these horseshoe flowers. This fellow also makes reindeer, cactus..all sorts of things. No one knew these employees were so talented. It is local and it is providing jobs! I finally planted it today, and it instantly made my yard look like something is really happening in there! Spring is springing in Yakima WA! yeaaayyy!!

Gardening: Cleaning up garden for winter..

Here we go again, It was such a beautiful day I hated to do it. But waiting til it gets real cold on these old bones, not good, hubs and I got to it yesterday, 1 Nov! It is quite warm here ...»
actually for this time of the year. Cutting off the hosta leaves didn't hurt so much, but the Dusty Miller and Snap dragons...yikes! OUCH! They were still blooming! I left that red flowered thing because I just couldnt bear to get rid of them too.I poured some mulch on top of the hostas, I hope that was ok???? Have never done this before, but we had it.I was going to replant some of them but KMS Woodworks sent me to a site that said wait ..so I will. I took some of the Dusty Miller clippings and put it on the porch, hubs didnt realize it was going in my flower vase in the kitchen, I turned around and it was gone too. What was he thinking, 2 barrels of garden greenery ok, but a few sprigs of DM on the PORCH...huh? Oh well. Hope everyone gets their yard work done for the winter before it gets too cold..have fun! OOHH I had to take my face family out too ..they were starting to get weathered and I put them in a safe place for the winter! and I had to cut chicken hands-hands off too!

So it didn't do much good for the c until I went in my bathroom and realized it was for clock! I will try it again . I guess it did work for the other things. I did buy bulbs, and we planted them . 10 hyacinth and 8 tulips. Have never planted bulbs before.

Painting: My living room wall, no longer teal...

I just had to repaint it in spite of the encouragement I got from so many. The "teal", even after getting ti darkened was just too neon for me. This is calmer , and while not as dramatic ...»
as I would have liked...it is just fine. I am not the only one who lives here, (snicker) so the other half is happy too! Maybe down the road after I use up the left over paint, I will strike out again! who knows? I must have at least 8 or 9 coats of paint on this wall anyway! That is what is holding my mhome up, paint!

Washington fire photo

The fires in Washington Idaho and Oregon are still going. This was sent to me this morning. The people living in the foothills here havent has much fresh air in quite a while. 2 big fires merged out there, and are still going. This is the Wenatchee area. Not near us, but we have plenty of hazy skies. Our closest fires seems to be out or contained as of now.

Furniture Revivals: Sheila..anyone....my desk needs help?

Hey Sheila or anyone, suggestions for what to do with this very worthy desk. Hard wood, no staples, no nails in drawers. I don't like the hardware, and the carpets are , almost ...»
immediately following this post , being replaced with beige, to tie in with the other carpets and floors etc. So red and green are not the predominant colors. I am a "little" tired of red and green. Bur I love the light green on the wall. Included is the picture of my living room.I am trying to switch to steel blue and having a hard time. I almost always go to aqua.

I want some fun with this desk. Sheila, I love what you do, so am imploring you..but anyone can chime in! Like I said this is a worthy desk. I watch this tv from the kitchen (galley style), and hubs puts his shoes on here. hahaa

Remodeling: Help remaking my new purse..

Hello to the gals on the spider thread, where i showed my purses. Susan s Sherrie, Becky Tania etc....I need help. Or anyone. The purple is gorgeous, however it has so many compartments ...»
in it, everything falls down into cracks, the tops of the compartments fall over and search search search for my "stuff". It is very frustrating. I think it may be possible to renovate it, but I am not sure how or where to start. And it has no stable structure. Any ideas? Should I take it somewhere to remake it. It is worth it because of the very low cost I got it for.Even hubs loves it! Maybe I need to show a picture of the inside??
