Painting: To Paint or Not

I have a vintage iron chaise white with some rust. and a glass top table to match. Do I paint it? If so what color? I'm torn and need help with the decision. I'm open for all suggestions, it's in good shape with nice wheels

Thanks.

Cleaning & Organization: Cleaning hardwood floors

I have tried a Swiffer, a Bona, straight vinegar, orange cleaner, and a steam mop. I always get a residue on my hardwood floors. It is so bad that I'm actually considering Pergo or ...»
carpet! I'm tired of spending my money on products that do not work. Does anyone know definitively what cleans hardwood floors with no residue? I'm desperate!

n glow type of cleaners b/c i have in the past and always got a residue. do you think the problem could possibly be your finish on your floor? maybe it needs to be sanded and reapplied. If someone before you put something bad on it, it may have permanently dulled it therefore no matter what you do it will never look right. ??????

  • Beautiful day lillies
  • A Stella de Oro day lily -- I planted this in a southern-facing flower bed, but I haven't had as much luck with this lily yet for some reason.

Day Lillies

I hope to start a new southern-facing summer garden with plenty of these day lillies! Now is the time to plant summer bulbs. #MayProjects

  • Years of hard water deposits and grime accumulated ove time.
  • 15 minutes later! Major difference!
  • Start by saturating the entire area with a 60-40 percent mixture of white vinegar and water. Spray the area liberally with a spray bottle and let the mixture sit for a few minutes. This will help loosen everything up
  • Then take an old handy dandy toothbrush and start scrubbing the water deposits. The gunk and hard water deposits will start to break off in little chunks. Then rinse with steaming hot water. 1
  • Now that you have cleaned off the top layer, grab a scouring pad to get the stubborn spots. Just moisten the pad with a little hot water and begin scrubbing the crevices where the remaining water deposits are. 1
  • You can see the blue "soap" from the scouring pad where I had to scrub a little harder than the toothbrush would allow.
  • Now give it one final rinse with hot water and use your dry eraser to clean off smudges. This step kind of "polishes" it off but is not necessary if you don't have any minor surface level scuffs.
  • One final rinse and a wipe down with a paper towel and you are done my friend! And no harmful chemicals were used which is a bonus!
  • Voila! Now your sink faucet shines like a brand new one!!! With a little elbow grease and a couple cleaning tools and supplies you have saved yourself lots of money and can prolong the life of your existing sink and faucet! 1

  • Before the lamp was just plain white with green trim. We used several colors that we pulled from the colors in her bedspread to give it a little pizzaz.
  • I used hot glue to adhere the ribbons to the shade. Just a dab on each end and none in the middle. Then I folded the ends over the bottom and top of the shade and hot glued them to the inside.
  • End result: colorful, fun lamp shade!

  • This is the front of the house. The brick really is red, the shadows from the trees are making it look brown. Notice the two windows on the second floor.
  • This it the back of the home. Another nice porch off the kitchen.

Painting: What color?

We just bought this nice dark red brick home. As you can see, it looks rather plain. All the trim and the front and back porches need painted. We would really rather not paint it the ...»
traditional white with black or dark green trim. We want this home to not look like every other red brick home in the area. We're also thinking about shutters to break up all the red brick, especially on the second floor. The porches are amazing and actually fairly large and we really want to make them pop and still look inviting. Any suggestions?

  • The original framed part was twice as tall. I cut about 6 inches off. I wanted it to look like a cute piece of furniture and not so much like a vanity since it was going in my dining room.
  • I cut this piece of beadboard to fit in the frame and added a basket of posies applique. It was painted with Miss Mustard Seed Linen Milk Paint.
  • Here's the completed look. I had fun accessorizing it.
  • I also added some glass knobs to pretty her up a bit.
