Book page decoupaged dresser!

I purchased this vintage dresser for $5 at a garage sale last year. My 20 year old daughter was moving into her apartment and needed furniture. The lowness of this would make a perfect TV ...»
stand and the drawers would be great for storage, but the orange had to go. This was such an easy project because it was actually well painted. I just torn up an old book and decoupaged it right onto the orange drawer fronts. I lightly sanded the edges smooth and put two coats of poly sealer over it. She wanted the same knobs, so I just painted them black. Easy and it works great for her little place. Total cost was $8 and the chest is all wood and very solid!

Will a polished concrete floor alone make my basement colder? What about slippery when wet?

I'm pulling the vinyl and carpet out of our basement and was thinking about having the concrete slab polished, if that's even possible. I'm wondering if pulling out all the flooring will ...»
just make it colder though? And our laundry room is downstairs, do I have to worry about a concrete floor being really slippery when wet? (More so than tile or vinyl?)

Thank you all for your help. @Amazing Improvements - I didn't really know there was a ...»
difference between polishing, staining or sealing the floors. My sister lives in a loft in SC and her floors are polished I believe and they are beautiful, so that is why I was leaning that direction. And other information would be greatly appreciated!!

@Seve - I am planning on putting a rug down as well. My kids love the basement and that is where my office is as well.

Plumbing: Do I call a plumber or do you think a handyman could do this for me??

My shower continues to pour water out the faucet even when it's supposed to spray from the shower head only. It also pushes the hot water out the faucet more than the shower head - so ...»
it's cutting the house's possible shower time in half. I was going to call a plumber, but wondered if I could call a handyman to fix this instead. What do you guys think??

Thanks everyone. I'm calling a plumber to come look at it. And it is the three knobs, one ...»
for hot, another cold, and the third in the middle for the diverter. I'll let you know how it goes.
