  • Dining Table and Chairs after complete makeover 1
  • The chairs were spray painted a creamy white and the seats were recovered in some bargain graphic red and white fabric.
  • The base of the table was painted creamy white and then glazed to bring out the detailed woodwork. We chose to sand and refinish the walnut table top with natural stain and many coats of polyurethane. Buffing brought out the shine.
  • The glazing really brought out the details on the table base and chairs.
  • Next I made slip-covers for the chair seats. The neutral shade made them more versatile and easy to clean. 1

Dining Table and Chairs found curb-side

My husband found this table and chairs for free curb-side and, of course, couldn't pass them up. They were in serious need of some updating but we were up for the challenge.

Refinishing a metal table

We "inherited" an old ugly table with our home. It had a chipped, black, dirty metal base with a laminate top. I spruced it up with some paint, Rub-n-buff, and a simple table cloth made from a drop cloth.

I want to make a water fountain! Inspiration and a plea for...help?

When I was down south, I spotted this wine bottle water fountain. I took a quick picture, asked the owner where he found it, when he proudly replied, "I made it!" ...»

Well, I thought his idea was genius! And while wine bottles aren't quite my thing, rusty junk is.

So I'm on the lookout for water feature material. And for added inspiration, here are a few of my favourite water features I found right on HomeTalk!

And I'd LOVE your advice. Do you have any tips that could help with a newbie water feature maker such as I? Any cool kits to try?

I'm Feeling Aqua Blue

Last year I went through an intense "Aqua Blue Phase". I would take as many as 12 pieces to paint at the same time. I had a carport covered with drop cloths and paint projects. It's so ...»
much easier to paint several pieces at one time it they're all going to be the same color!

Get out of your comfort zone with color!

I am not the kind of decorator that gravitates towards white. I see lovely white rooms then I remember that I have 3 dogs and 2 cats. I can only envision animal hair covering everything. ...»
However, I don't really gravitate towards color either. I live in a sea of Mason Jar Blue and Neutrals and I am very happy there. That said, I have been wanting to get out of my painted furniture shell. Here is my version of masculine and eclectic. Done in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Napoleonic Blue with Coco accents.
