  • I took a silver plated platter from Goodwill and drilled holes through it, so that the bottles would hang at the varying heights that I like...and then attached chain on the top sides.

  • To access the socket...and place a bulb I cut the bottoms of these decanters off with my wet saw. I'd love to say that there is an easier way to do that...but trust me...I've tried all those tutorials online...and there's just not! 7

Sprucing Up a Farmhouse Porch

Kitchen Remodeling and Countertops

We've been renovating our kitchen and I'm loving the result! You won't believe our new countertops are LAMINATE and have a special edge to them to make them appear more like granite and ...»
no more brown lines! It's a new product and the large scale patterns of laminate they make now really mimics granite. It's amazing! This wasn't a DIY project because well some things should just be hired out, but definitely worth it. You should come check out our gorgeous new sink too. It's black quartz, seamlessly undermounted, and oh so fancy. Tomatoes and their need for water

I started may 28th planting 4 tomatoes around a garbage can with holes drilled in the bottom rim and a second row up about 10 inches... buried the can to where the top holes just barely ...»
were above the ground... put in two shovels full of compost... then I fill the can up with water ever 2 days and try not to water the leaves... these four plants are now 5 ft 4 inches in less that a month and a half and loaded with green tomatoes and about a hundred sets of tomato blossoms...

  • A simple solution that makes life easier! Plus it makes my toaster look cute, if that is even possible!
  • I measured my toaster and cut bottom piece about 1/2 inch bigger on all sides. Then I cut 1x2's for side pieces.
  • After sanding, I glued and nailed the whole thing together.
  • I stained it a dark walnut and used an old dog toy strap for handles. They were nailed on using upholstery tacks.
  • All done! And super classy!
  • And here is my new toaster tray sporting my toaster in the cupboard, and guess what, catching all the crumbs!!!! 1

We all have toasters, right? Then we are all dealing with the annoying crumbs that escape from the bottom of those toasters....right? ...»

With a few scraps of wood, glue and nails, I have fixed my problem! I made a simple toaster tray to "catch my crumbs"! And let me tell you, it has been wonderful! NO MORE CRUMBS EVERYWHERE!!!

Check out my tutorial, and rid your life, counter, cupboard, whatever...of crumbs!

  • I recently gave my boys' bedroom a makeover, and this included custom made headboards.
  • I used PureBond plywood for these headboards. After designing a template for the shape, I used a jig saw to cut it out. I stained it and added nailhead trim as a decorative accent.
  • I made a twin size headboard for my oldest son, and a mini toddler bed version for my youngest.

$60 total for both headboards. I designed a template and then cut the wood with a jigsaw. I used Minwax stain and Polycrylic, and added decorative nailhead trim. Check out the link for a full tutorial: http://www.diyonthecheap.blogspot.com/2013/0...
