Outdoor Living: What would be a good ground cover for a one foot wide area that surrounds all four sides of an inground swimming pool?

New cement was poured around the pool and a fence was added leaving about a foot wide (around the entire pool) area that needs plant material or something to cover the red mud. Part of ...»
the pool has has mostly full sun, the other half, part shade.

That's a tough question because I'm thinkg that water splashed from the pool (that has ...»
chlorine in it) would make it difficult for things to grow. In the area that gets full sun I might try a juniper since they're pretty tough and love sun. Plus, adding new concrete raises your alkalinity level of your soil. Good luck :)
