Fun, beautiful and safe for kids...think pondless waterfall and stream

This family has 3 very young children. They wanted a pool but did not feel comfortable with the safety of a pool with their young children. They decided on a fun, beautiful safe pondless ...»
waterfall and stream. The word "pondless" means that the reservoir for the water is underground where it is safe. The 4' high by 8' wide waterfall spills into a large landing area, and then travels down a narrow stream, around side of a lounging patio, and disappears behind evergreens into our pondless reservoir. This water feature gets winterized in December and starts up again in March. Every spring we come in to spruce up the plantings, adding perennials, annuals and mulch. www.deckandpatio.com

Re-purposing pallets

pickets so I could complete the project. My fenced area is 30' X 40' and I still had pallets left over for other projects.

Beautiful Potting shed and getaway!

My friend Jane and I share 2 things, a love of gardening and a bubbly 9 year old grandson. She happens to have a wonderful husband who built this beautiful potting shed for her. Keep in mind, they don't have a huge backyard but this potting shed makes the most out of their space plus they have quite a nice garden, trees and plenty of play room for that bubbly grandson!. Cute or what? I do envy her get away!

Making a Splash with a Chandelier Fountain

Mind Officially Blown! I saw an idea for upcycling that I just had to share...

The visual team at Roger's Gardens in Newport Beach, CA took a crystal chandelier and ...»

turned it into a FOUNTAIN! The water drips off of the crystal and down into a fountain below... the effect is pure elegance, and it certainly is something I've never seen before.

Can you just imagine this as decor for #OutdoorLiving , in an elegant formal garden or a greenhouse? At a wedding reception? Perfection!

Desk or Bar Makeover

When I found this shelving unit at a thrift store, I knew that I could turn it into something fabulous. I painted it white and hand painted a DIY gold patterned wallpaper on the back.

Check out how I made the pattern on my blog.

Garden Art Frog Prince - Free Tutorial

A friend saw a garden art frog prince during a garden tour and asked me to make one. She didn't have a photo, so all I had to go by was 'it's round, green, funny, and wears a crown'. ...»
Okay. I can make one of those! I confess, it's not my usual style of garden art, but I was up for the challenge.

This project is suitable for a somewhat experienced crafter or anyone who is willing to experiment and adapt. When you work with repurposed/used materials, each frog will be unique-which is wonderful, really-but does require a bit of patience and imagination.

I used a sturdy glas lamp globe for the body. An old bowling ball would work very well too.

Full instructions, materials, and frog dress-up ideas are on my blog here: http://www.empressofdirt.net/frogprincetutor...
