A Nailhead Trim Dresser

finished product doesn't reflect my style, it does a great job of reflecting hers. It was a lot of fun to move outside my comfort zone and try something new on a piece of furniture! I tend to always go for the "safe" option and I loved working with someone unafraid to think outside the box. Read the details of how the transformation was completed by clicking the link.

Living room

This is my country-coastal style living room that we renovated last year. Since this is our first home we really are on a shoestring budget and all our renovations are DIY. This room was ...»
one of the biggest selling points for us when we first viewed the house as it's bay window and vertically joined claddling lends itself perfectly to our country coastal style of decorating.

Our crisp, white slipcovered couch is one of the few new items of furniture in the room with the rest being thrifted and upcycled, usually with a coat of beachy white paint. I also love to decorate with stone and white, soft blues and aquas, stripes, polka dots and a whole lot of white.

As you can see the living room was extremely brown when we moved in. Firstly we painted the walls in Dulux Fair Bianca half strength, changed out the curtains, pulled up the carpet and retiled the floor.

  • I guess if I had to name this photo it would be; no matter where you travel home will always be with you.

Little Christmas vignette

I found this suitcase in the attic of my old house. I was surprised to see it had my name and address on the travel tag from over 37 years ago. So I cleaned it up and filled it with treasures of Christmases past and let it be a part of our holiday decorations for this year.

Fleece and yarn Ideas.

Last Christmas I bought a cheap red fleece tree skirt and stitched snowflakes around the bottom with white yarn. I also had my little niece a pair of slippers (the pattern was Martha Stewart)

Hot Chocolate Dippers

I love chocolate in almost any form! So using a "Hot Chocolate Dipper" that will add more chocolate to my hot cocoa sounds great to me! Another reason I like these "dippers" is they are gluten free. Thanks to you Brandy from The Moody Fashionista for her tutorial on how to make these.

The holidays can be especially difficult for those who are gluten free.

  • Use painters tape to create a level bracket line and to easily mark wall studs.
  • My closet already had one shelf and a clothing bar. I installed two more shelves using simple white brackets and customizable melamine shelving.
  • The bottom shelf is partially supported by a wooden file cabinet.
