  • This quirky, double wide sized pallet wood chair is all decked out, ready for a great summer read.
  • Two pallets, 4 legs and two armrest boards are really all it took. So easy! The trick is to ensure you find two pallets that are similar in size.
  • Let's add more quirk to make it totally yours! This signboard was used as an armrest. Note how wide the board is... perfect for my coffee cup. Priorities here...
  • This leg has an antique level attached. This project is a little like 'Where's Waldo's Wild Additions?'
  • Pallet markings were celebrated by placing them in prominent places. Coffee bean sacks acting like large pillow cases were just tucked in place. No sewing required. 2
  • For the legs, a little bracing was required inside the pallet so the leg had something to stabilize against.
  • Tell me that isn't one big cool chair to curl up in! But let's add some comfort...
  • 5" foam cut to size (new from a foam shop) was key for the ultimate comfort.
  • This is a pallet SOFA I made last year, decked out in total bohemian style craziness. The build is much more size customized: http://www.funkyjunkinteriors.net/2011/08/how-i-built-pallet-sofa-part-2.html

pallets and little more. I kid you not! This is the easiest build in the world and you'll wonder why you didn't think of it first!

  • Before shot of our kitchen. It is on the small side and was very dark. 1
  • We tore out our existing backsplash and created a custom hood above the cooktop. I opted to use Annie Sloan Chalk Paint to help me achieve the french country feel I was looking for. Working on finishing up the rest of the cabinet doors 4
  • Old Ochre paint and new knobs. 3
  • I use a moist sanding block to sand with. It keeps the dust at bay and makes a buttery smooth finish.
  • Dark wax applied to help age the cabinets.
  • It is a long process to achieve this look but to us well worth it. 1
  • I stil am working on finishing up the remainder of the cabinets but am just thrilled with how far our kitchen has come from where we first started. 1

Creating a French Country Kitchen Cabinet Finish Using Chalk Paint

We are in the midst of a mini kitchen DIY reno. Hubby finally caved and agreed to let me paint our wood cabinets and I created a french country rustic feel for them using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.

  • 1. The first thing you do is hollow out some eggs. Just put a small hole in both sides. Insert a toothpick to scramble the egg some. That will make it easier to blow out. 1
  • 2. Then gently blow threw the hole, and the egg will come out the other end. After you have washed and dried them, you can create a design by first drawing it on in pencil or by free-style using a fine-point Sharpie
  • 3. The design can be as simple or as intricate as you want. You can also use Sharpies in pastel colors. When you are finished drawing, apply a sealer to add some sheen and to prevent smears.

Create These Unusual Easter Eggs By Using A Sharpie and Some Hollowed-out Egg Shells

You don't need to be an artist to create these eggs for Easter. I saw these eggs in a little shop in Buenos Aires, Argentina and realized how cute and easy they are. This is how you make ...»
them: First, you need to empty the eggs out by putting a small hole in each end, and blowing the egg out. It is easier if you use a toothpick first to scramble the egg while it is still in the shell. Then think up some free-hand designs and draw them onto the egg shell. Then go over it with a Sharpie. Any color would work, but the black adds some drama. The last step is to cover them with a clear sealer to add some sheen and to prevent smears. They are the perfect activity for the kids.
