from one of the rigid mailbox stands went through his windshield and he now has permanent brain damage. I think this is the reason the law was passed. Close to my home, I saw where a car ran off the road, wiped out a mailbox on a wooden post and hit and killed a deer. I assume the driver was trying to avoid the deer. If that had been a rigid mailbox stand, the outcome could have been a similar incident. I will contact the DOT.
