The Secret To Making Garden Art Flowers From Dishes

If you want to make garden flowers like these ones, you may want to add one little skill to your bag of tricks - drilling holes in dishes (glass, ceramic, metal). There is a complete ...»
tutorial on the Empress of Dirt site listed below.

Don't be afraid - it's a simple, slow process that takes a gentle touch, and once you know how to do this, you can make all sorts of other garden art projects as well.

It is also possible to make these just using silicone sealant as the adhesive but I prefer drilling holes and using wires to make it last through Canadian winters.

  • A gazing ball made from a bell, a bowl, a heavy purple art-glass vase atop a heavy inverted clear vase with a yellow flowered paper weight nestled inside and mounted on a cake platter. It is over 2 feet tall! Assembled by Nita Hooper 1
  • A sassy lady with a bee in her bonnet! When I put the glass on the handled vase, I knew she needed a special hat. Glass redefined and assembled by Nita Hooper. 1
  • The Mrs. out for a stroll with her man. When I found the three matching vases, I knew they needed to stay together. Assembled by Nita Hooper.
  • A Gentleman in White. Glass redefined and assembled by Nita Hooper
  • A "candle" to light your way. Amberina praying hands on a dish with a crackle-glass inverted vase. I plan to put this over a light source to make it really sparkle. Glass redefined and assembled by Nita Hooper.
  • A teapot on a teapot totem. The candlestick on the bottom will be placed over a stake in my yarden for stability. Glass redefined and assembled by Nita Hooper. 2
  • Sophisticated Lady-in-Blue. Her picture-hat is a heavy bowl with raised spiral swirls. She is ready for the opera...maybe the gentleman in white will be her escort! Glass redefined and assembled by Nita Hooper.
  • Cobalt Blue yard totem. Glass redefined and assembled by Nita Hooper. Needs to set in the middle of a pretty flower bed!
  • Orange yard totem planter with an orange-tipped Campfire Plant in the green bowl. Glass redefined and assembled by Nita Hooper.
  • Cobalt Blue Lady of the Garden. Glass redefined and assembled by Nita Hooper.
  • Another view of cobalt blue yard totem. Glass redefined and assembled by Nita Hooper. I may plant some succulents in the blue bowl.

Repurposed glass

I am new on Hometalk. During the cold winter here in the Texas panhandle, I enjoy putting together glass that I find in thrift stores and at garage sales. Seeing all the creative ways ...»
people repurpose things on Pinterest and this site have inspired me to try my hand at it. I have had so much fun! You need to click on the pictures of some of these to see the whole piece.

  • Materials: round vinyl table cloth, fabric and hot glue.
  • {no sew} ombre ruffled tree skirt
  • Still decorating the tree...{leftover fabric scraps as ribbon}

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas: {no sew} ombre ruffled Christmas tree skirt.

A family room makeover in progress deserves a new tree. Non traditional Christmas colors...hard to find a tree skirt that's not red and green. I whipped up a no-sew ruffled tree skirt and chose a teal ombre color scheme.

  • This basement office now has a beautiful view of a small waterfall. Open the window to enjoy the sound! 3
  • Creative use of rock provides inspiring scenery. 1
  • Isn't this view much better than the ordinary corrugated piece of metal you typically see out a basement window?
  • A mix of plants and rock was used to provide a fantastic view.
  • Cleaning the windows becomes more enjoyable, too. No more stooping into a spider-ridden window well.

Waterfalls for Window Wells

Create a lower level "room with a view" when you transform an unsightly window well into a Pondless Waterfall. Besides a gorgeous view, you'll enjoy the soothing sound of running water ...»
when you open the window. The waterfall keeps re-circulating so no water enters the basement window. Watch the video that shows the rest of this amazing landscape. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VhSZyfidz4c
