Mixes of Shabby, Shiny, and Shaggy.

I love the color of our piano. I wanted it to stand out and complement the warm wood with metal, rough and soft elements, and undefined style.

  • Finished nightstand with the geometric drawer.
  • The nightstand before any paint.
  • Use Frog Tape, and then one coat of poly before painting to get crisp lines on the drawer.
  • The drawer adds so much interest to the piece.

Geometric Nightstand

This nightstand needed a modern design to add some interest to its simple lines. Everything except the drawer got painted black and sealed with polyurethane. On the drawer I used white, ...»
bright blue, black and left parts of the natural walnut to create a triangle geometric design. It just took some patience and some Frog Tape.

  • The space was originally 2 separate rooms-a tiny toilet, shower, single sink and a vanity area. We removed the wall and 2 closets to make one open space. 3
  • Because this was a total DIY project, we were able to complete a much higher end looking bathroom for $7,000. 1
  • These mirrors (from Lowes) and sconces (from Home Depot) were both very affordable options and I love the look they create in the bathroom. 2
  • The pedestal tub is my favorite addition to the space.

DIY Master Bathroom

We completely renovated a 1980's outdated master bathroom (think metallic wallpaper) and created a tranquil space to escape my 3 boys! The post on my blog contains many of our sources.

Midcentury Modern Dresser Makeover

I know that a lot of people don't like the midcentury modern look but I happen to be a fan of it. I found this dresser that needed TLC and gave it a makeover with white, gold and neon pink spray paint.

DIY outdoor cat-enclosure

YES, I'm a crazy cat lady. I'm cuckoo for my cats and that's why I built them an outdoor cat-enclosure. They love it and I don't have to worry about them getting hurt outside.

My first chalk paint dresser

I felt like this dresser was just asking for a chalk paint makeover. I went with a turquoise green and hobby lobby knobs. Check out the blog for more details.

Katie, I used two coats ...»
of the paint. But it is a very thick paint. I'm sure you could get away with just painting one coat but I liked it better with two :)
