$10 Washer & Dryer Makeover

After years of staring at my plain white appliances, I got bored. And when I get bored, I get a little crazy. So I decided to paint them with one $10 pint of Rustoleum enamel paint in ...»
Regal Red. It took three coats over a weekend, but they look amazing! I followed it up with some spray on poly to help protect it. It's been nearly a year and no chips yet. I used a silver paint pen to add my settings. What I should have done there was placed tracing paper over the knob prongs and meticulously copied my settings, because I left a lot out. Then I could have added a vinyl transfer or used a fine tip paint pen. I may scrape off the paint around the dials and redo it later down the line. Otherwise it was a cheap and easy update! Its a bit daring, but every client who ordered a red epoxy garage floor has never been disappointed.

They are really a hot color that adds interest and excitement to the room. If ya dig it, how about a thumbs up!?

Gardening: What Can I Plant?

As mentioned on a previous post, our back yard was trashed when he bought the house. What in the world can I plant in these tight areas? We're painting the walls and I have the great ...»
Asian panels in the picture below (enough to cover the entire back wall), but I'm horrible at plants and what to use in planting areas that range from 1' - 18" wide, in horribly hard dirt, for plants that will not damage the pool decking or root deeply enough to seek out water from the pool. Keep in mind we are in the desert in Las Vegas with regular 110 degree Summer days and need something that won't make a mess in the pool. Something narrow and tall would be great for privacy from the 2-story house behind us that overlooks our yard. Bamboo would be a difficult option uinless we build curved planters and line them because of its running roots and potential pool damage. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
