Gardening: I recently purchased a magnolia tree and I am trying to figure out the best side of the house to place it.

I've heard they need a lot of water is this true?

we have several magnolias all on the southern exposure side. we have a drip system on one tree ...»
and none on 4 others and last year we had poor water pressure which left some of our plants parched. The magnolias did surprisingly well, better than the palms. which tells me that their quite hardy and adjust to circumstance. Some leaves will yellow and fall without regular watering but the whole tree still thrives.
