this looks nice, ken. i recently used a fabric track system from Quest Acoustics. It made for ...»
really tight corners and you could take the acoustic paneling under the fabric to any level your budget allowed for. wouldn't mind seeing pictures of this project as you get moving along...

I would avoid spending huge amounts of money to create a monster that you need constant tech ...»
support for... Figure out if you are a video buff, and audiophile, or a techy. Invest in a great projector, a quality acoustic design (a good room can make mediocre speakers sounds good, with a bad room, even the best speakers will sound lifeless), or invest in really integration aspects (like smartphone integration)... that's all i've got for now...

Windows & Doors: Burglarized!

Don't necessarily want to jump to a monthly monitoring system. Other than strengthening ground-level doors and frames (one was kicked in), how can we make ourselves a hard target? I'm particularly worried about a picture window.

You want to build high enough to see the bottom of the screen in spite of the persons head in ...»
front of you. I have a complicated spreadsheet that helps determine this, or you could ask a friend to sit in a chair you could stand behind him and 'rise up' until you see the bottom of the screen, measure your height off the finished floor. Then sit down in seating to be used, then measure your 'seated eye height'. subtract one from the other and voila... make the steps appropriate to accommodate this viewing height.

I've seen old theater chairs at Scotts Antique Market in Atlanta... they also have cool old ...»
'movie type stuff', like reels and broken projectors that look cool. might not go with your star wars theme, but suggesting for others looking... I saw a death star cookie jar for sale online that might work in this room... :)
