About Me:

Love to move furniture around for different loks. Love flea markets, yard sales and thrift stores. Cottage style is my favorite, with farmhouse style running a close second. Love anything vintage.

Favorite area of home improvement:

Not planning any improvements at this time. Love to decorate with what I have and adding a special find now and then.

Like others, I have used unwanted stools for plant stands. I would cut the legs way down and ...»
use one beside the bathtub to hold a book, reading glasses and maybe a cool drink while relaxing in said tub. They also make nice nightstands if you add a larger top, a small round table cloth would hide the finish and legs.

  • This rustic piece started as an old discarded cabinet with broken handles. 2
  • We used old branches from the yard as hardware in keeping with the rustic look 1
  • A cat flap and vent were added. 1
  • The cabinet was gutted with the drawer fronts mounted on wood and hinged to open freely to clean the litter box 1
  • Coco started using it that day, and it's been wonderful to have the litterbox out of the bathroom. Coco loves the privacy too. 3
  • ... and this is the before picture 4

You'll never guess what's inside this cabinet..

Take a guess what's on the inside of this rustic piece. You'd probably never expect it. An old discarded cabinet takes on a whole new purpose.

The entire makeover can be seen at Recaptured Charm.

  • By attaching a 2 x 4 to the door...I gave the sink a place to be attached.
  • I screwed down threw the faucet holes with large, long screw through washers.
  • Planted this little darling up...and now I can have this planter anywhere I want to enjoy!

Gardening: Can anyone identify these flowers?

On a recent trip to the Dallas Arboretum, I snapped a photo of these gorgeous flowers. Unfortunately, they didn't label them. Does anyone know what they are?

DIY Custom Pantry Transformation

After two years of struggling with storage space in our existing pantry, we moved the pantry renovation to the top of our "Never ending honey-do-list". We started out with a common ...»
looking pantry with utility wire shelving hidden behind a set of bi-fold doors. But after a little "sweat equity" we transformed the pantry into a custom built-in with adjustable wooden shelves, drawer sliders, and the best part of all, all of the storage that we could ask for! (We're also working on a series of tutorials where we share the plans of how we built the cabinet. Here's the first set of plans: http://www.thediyvillage.com/2013/05/build-a...) #BeforeandAfter #DIY #kitchenpantry

You did a great job. Wish I had a pantry so I could do this. I use a bookcase for a "pantry". ...»
Does the job but don't look as nice as a regular pantry would. BTW, Marie S of Canada I live in a single-wide mobile home also. Maybe a bookcase would work for you if you have a spot for it.

I recycled a regular size margarine tub as a twine holder. Just punch a hole in the lid to ...»
feed the twine through. if the printing on the tub bothers you, you can always paint the tub. Works great - keeps the twine clean and you can just snip off the length you need.
