Shade garden fence

This is a fence that we made out of very old windows and stair balusters, both left over from jobs my hubby did. The windows are so old that they have hand-rolled glass! There are two ...»
sections with my tea pot fountain set between the two fence sections. I love them because they are open and don't obstruct my view and they keep the dog from tearing through my shade garden!

  • Re purposed front yard!! 1

Re purposed front landscape.

Years ago this area was done in a Zen thing. It was laid out as a Ying/yang with stone and chips, and just the maple. I moved the bridge from the back yard, moved the small stone around to create paths, transplanted hostas (ferns didn't too too great) free wood chips and path edging rocks from my son. Going to be putting down a dry creek bed. Bak is giving out - so those will be purchased and not moved from the back yard!! going to be a nice photo spot for Prom night!!

  • Spring !
  • It just so happens that we are in the middle of spring cleaning, which is perfect timing for this fun, decorative upcycled planter idea for the kids. I'll be pulling all of last years' rain boots for this project and go looking for pai 1
  • We have the perfect tree for an outdoor swing! With a piece of sanded (and possibly painted) upcycled wood, rope and ribbon, all of the kids can enjoy this peaceful and beautiful swing in the yard.
  • It has always been a dream of mine to create a stone walkway leading to the tree with the swing. But it has to be dreamy looking... This is a perfect way to trim the stones while adding color and incorporating useful herbs and plants. 4

  • One of my goals for spring is to plant a kid-friendly garden – and allow the kids to help maintain it! Gardens are a great excuse to get kids outdoors, in the fresh air, and as a tool to help them build their confidence. 1

How to create a colorful and family-friendly backyard

Now that spring is here, and the weather is nicer, the yard is calling my name. This year, my goal is to create a family-friendly space that is inviting – should we have company over ...»
this coming summer – and to create a space that is serene and comfortable for me to retreat to, but also colorful and fun for the kids to play in andhelp maintain.

How To Avoid Deck Failure

Deck flashing can make or break the structure of your deck. Here's how it works: you have your main house structure, your band board, half an inch of sheathing, and then siding. This is my deck flashing process: we cut and remove the siding at the band board, insert a large L-piece of flashing, install siding, and place the floorboards on top so that when it rains, the water will exit away from the house. This is the end result you want because the water won't leak into the structure ...»
of your home causing rot. When deck flashing is poorly installed, water will go behind the deck and rot the structure of the house, which will result in deck failure.

Beautiful Outdoor Area On a $100 Budget!

I created this outdoor patio area for my husband I after we had just got married. Everything you see in the pictures cost around $100.00 using Dollar Tree, Ikea and Big Lots! I was so ...»
happy with the way it came out.

I had a plug in chandelier that I had purchased for my wedding that I knew I wanted to use centered above the table, and that's how my ideas got started. I then hung Lill Curtains ($2.50 from Ikea) Around the entire patio and it really changed the look instantly.

For a complete breakdown and helpful tips to get the same "look" you can visit my blog at:
