that may work for you, but i would highly recommend not mixing your baking soda and vinegar. ...»
science says that that completely destroys the properties of both ingredients. baking soda + vinegar = water. i have used NOTHING but baking soda, vinegar, and the occasional lemon juice or tea tree oil to clean my house for over a year. i have learned that baking soda ought always to be used FIRST, to scrub and clean whatever gunk you're scrubbing. and THEN give it a good vinegar wipe down to get rid of any baking soda residue and also to disinfect (: i promise promise promise this is the way to go! if you want to use dish soap (unnecessary, honestly) mix just a dab of it with your baking soda, but do NOT add the vinegar. save it for afterwards. true story bro, coming at you from a mommy to a very messy 16 month old boy (:

There is a product called Iron Out...it is a powder and add as directed to white cotton towels ...»
and sheets etc.. I find that works for me. I have a top loading washing machine and you fill with water, add iron out ..start washing machine to agitate, then add clothes agitate, and let soak as directed.. Or for a small amount, can be done in a non metal pan or sink.. I do only a couple of times a year. It is not bleach but will take the color out of clothes if something gets in that is non white. We have hard water off the charts. Have used 5 % vinegar to soak faucets, shower heads and clean coffee pots for years. I dampen a towel in vinegar and wrap around the faucet or put the vinegar in a zip lock bag and use a rubber band to hold around shower head. Enjoy the info on Hometalk.
