  • Here are a few of the finished book place signs.
  • I found these signs at my local dollar store. I sanded and spray painted the backs of them. The front of the sign was the part that stuck to the wall.
  • I downloaded some of the special fonts. I tried to make them look like something from the book you can find these places in. All of the fonts can be downloaded for free.
  • After I printed the font, I took black sidewalk chalk and rubbed it on the back of the paper.
  • I then centered and taped the printed font onto the the painted sign and started tracing out the letters. I used an ink pen and I had to push down kind of hard to get the letters to transfer.
  • After you take off the paper you should see the transferred letters.
  • I used a smaller paint brush and just started in a corner of the letter. You will want to make sure your paint brush always has paint and it is going on evenly. I put two coats of paint on the letters.
  • I attached the signs to the wall using my favorite 3M Command strips.
  • The signs have made this little corner of the room much more cheery!

Easy Hand Painted Signs Tutorial

I have been wanting to make a little book nook for my daughter's room before she was even born. I had this idea of making signs that had my favorite places from books. I am not a very ...»
good painter when it comes to little details like letters. However, I read about several ways to transfer fonts onto wood and thought I would give it a try. I think they turned out pretty close to the actual fonts and it was super easy and fun. I can also be the first to tell you if I can do it anybody can do it. :)

  • Finished Mason jar solar light.
  • Supplies Needed: Solar lights, duct tape, Mason jars and outer lid, spray paint and painters tape. 3
  • Screw off the top of the solar light and put painters tape on the top of the solar panel.
  • Spray paint the solar light tops and lids.
  • I folded the duct tape in half to create double sided tape. I used duct to keep the light from falling into the jar. Duct tape is also weather proof.
  • I wrapped the duct tape around the light. Make sure you don't put the tape to close to the top. You don't want the tape to stick out of the lid. 4
  • I stuck the light with the duct tape inside the jar. You don't need to push the light in too far, just enough to make it snug. The lid will make it more secure.
  • It was an easy project that didn't cost very much money. I had all of the resources with the exception of the lights. 1

Mason Jar Solar Lights!

Don't you just love all of the things you can make and do with Mason jars? I have been wanting Mason jar solar lights since I saw them in a catalog three years ago, but for $40 a jar ...»
there was no way I would allow myself to buy them. I knew I needed to figure out a way to make them myself. I bought some solar lights at the dollar store and was able to come up with my own Mason jar solar lights. Please visit my blog to see all of the details.

  • Our patio went from boring to inviting!
  • This is what our patio looked like after we pulled off the tape. It make a huge difference in this space.
  • We power washed the cement and than filled in the cracks with cement filler.
  • After the cracks were all filled and dried we then primed the patio with mold resistant primer.
  • After the primer dried we painted the patio porch and floor oil paint. This will be the color of the painted lines.
  • After the base color dried we taped off the patio before putting on the final paint color.
  • We painted with the red color over the cream and tape. Once the paint dried we pulled off the tape to create the lines for the tiles.

Tutorial: Garden Sunflower From Plastic Spoons

I used 100 plastic spoons to make a sunflower for my backyard. I dug around in my closet and found a plastic tray that once was used at an office party. I brought home the lid to the coffee can from work to use as the center. I rummaged through my son's bag of pipe cleaners and dug out all the black ones and a couple of the yellow ones.
