  • Pretty greens, although faux, ring in spring perfectly on this fireplace mantel. The decor is very simple, but sometimes that's all you really need.
  • An old window from my parent's farm created the main focal point to this cozy corner. 3
  • An outdoor theme with a kettle as a bird's nest carried on the spring story. It's really just about using things that you love to look at.

A spring fireplace mantel... that never wilts!

I don't own the greenest thumb in the land. So I admit I have a collection of faux plants that I put to work on my mantel for a spring look back in 2012. ...»

The good news? I could create this exact mantel with the exact same plants right now if desired! With no crispy leaves in sight. :)

  • Using easily found items and created items, I was able to create a fairy garden - a great project with my children.
  • Fairy gardens can be in any size and can be customized for a thoughtful gift.
  • Although ready made items can be found online or in garden centers, we chose to make as many of the elements as we could.

Fairy Garden

A fun and quick project that is great to do with your kids. We did this last spring and we keep updating it for the seasons. We tried to "think out of the box" in terms of the house and furniture to come with fun options.

  • My finished front porch makeover! 6
  • Freshly potted flowers and our address stenciled on the pot add so much to the steps. 5
  • A much brighter, much more stylish new porch light from OSH. 2
  • I love the black front door, I think it really makes the front porch "pop". 1

My Front Porch Makeover

After two years of residing in our house our entry has finally received a makeover. I started with a design board where I gathered my ideas. Next I came across some great finds for unique ...»
pots and planters to use for decoration. Then new paint, a fancier header above the door, a new light fixture and I love it! Check out my whole makeover at the link below.

  • Inexpensive photo boxes and magazine holders keep everything neat and tidy.
  • This bookshelf was in my daughters bedroom . . . when she no longer wanted it I moved it to my craft room for additional storage.
The "craft" letters are from JoAnn Fabrics. I painted them and used
3-M tape to hang them up.
  • I framed some free subway art and hung an old frame that was missing the glass. I found the wood "create" letters at JoAnne Fabrics and painted them white.
  • White board is from Walmart, tray is from Target. Magazine holders from Ikea. Photo boxes from Michael's Craft Store.
  • I painted this tray and added a piece of wrapping paper to the bottom. It holds craft supplies and can be moved easily to another table for projects. 1
  • The table was unused in our dining room (turned library). We were going to sell it but decided to move it into my craft room. I love having a huge area to work on projects & scrapbooking. 1

Craft Room

My craft room is in our finished basement and I wanted to create a fun place to craft and scrapbook but didn't want to spend a lot of money. Most of the items were purchased at craft ...»
stores (on sale or with a coupon). I also re-purposed items we already had to save money.
