About Me:

Absolutely love landscaping. There is nothing more peaceful and inspiring than looking over what I or others have created.

Favorite area of home improvement:

While I have worked from remodel construction to interior design throughout my life my passion over all is landscaping from flowers to hardscapes.

Gardening: HELP?!? Our bush died!! This bush in our front yard has been fine for 11 years found it dead yesterday.

We have had this bush in our front yard for 11 years. Yesterday we noticed it appears to have died. Last week it was perfectly fine and green and lush! HELP!? Can anyone tell us what ...»
could be the problem, and is it completely dead or can we rehab it? You can see in the background the other bushes just like it that are fine and still lush and green. It was fine last week!!!

We had two other bushes through the years do the same and never investigated to see what went wrong. We ended up pulling them out but we do not want to keep losing bushes. Also does anyone know what type of bush it is?? They were here when we moved into our home and we have never known what kind they are.

seems as if it looks as though the leaves on the top are dead but the shrub itself seems ok ...»
underneath. I would try using a growth hormone (i use Superthrive) after clipping it back. That should both increase the growth rate and provide natural nutrients to recover it.

Outdoor Living: Can I cover above ground roots w/ tanbark?

Might be hard to see in picture, but this is my driveway garden area..... there are 2 enormous, 100 year old Norway Spruces in this area and there are many roots that are above the ground........... is it ok to use a 6 inch covering of tan bark or will that potentially damage the roots and trees?

looking at this picture I personally would go with a white shutter...it will 'pop' the shutter ...»
out and make it more visible and also tie your windows into the white fascia and trim around your other windows to the left..will also help to show the variation in your brick color

  • Desiring the look of old crates, I created stencils with my signmaking equipment. The paint went directly on the original wood! 6

Turn your stairs into a work of art

When I I ripped off the old stairway carpet, I debated for two long years on what to do with the stairs. The 'old patina' showing up on the stairs from daily wear and tear fired up an ...»
idea... make them look as if they were made from old crates.

So I got to work creating stencils and painted them with craft paint. Adding creative things such as yardsticks for risers just added to the fun.

The stairs fool nearly everyone coming in thinking I spent a FORTUNE on them, when in reality, they were absolutely free.

Our dining table wall. Used lots and lots of toilet paper rolls for this!

I cut them in rings, flatten them , glued them, painted them and finally hanged them! http://bisozozo.blogspot.com/
