About Me:

I am a network security dude, father of 3 kids and one incredible wife. Besides running my own business, writing books, teaching, and solving people and companies security problems, I try and keep up with a honey-do list.

Favorite area of home improvement:

Technology of course! But, I am learning more and more hands-on repairs for the house. I am very interested is energy savings, solar, wind power, and other ways to become independent.

Is it normal these days for a appliance repair man to pull up in his ford focus to work on a washer?

No signs on his car or anything, and then he walks up with a tablet of paper in his hand, no tools or anything? Was I wrong to send him away? And yes, I did hand him the $40 service call money, before sending him away.

Gardening: Bulk mulch?

Instead of going and buying 50 bags of mulch at the local store, I wanted to see if anyone had some ideas for getting mulch in bulk?

Plumbing: I have a Duet Washer and Dryer, 6 years old, and the Duet Washer is make a LOT of noise during the spin cycle.

I opened it up and found one of the rods had come loose, so I locked it back into place. It is still making a lot of noise, and the concrete counter weight is cracked and I see tiny pieces on the inside. Is there a way to fix this?
