Favorite area of home improvement:

We love all aspects of home building, but water gardening is our passion. Nothing can so drastically change a home as a great water feature.

  • We completed our professionally constructed pond in 08, after having our 'homemade' one for 15 years. It has one of the best investments we've ever made, for landscaping, entertaining, and the beauty and sound of it watching the koi every day.

Gardening: We need more ideas for water conservation for watering flowers & gardens during these hot, dry summers.

Rain barrels are ok, but certainly hold very little when it comes to a landscape requirement!

gallons-a million if you would like. We've helped install them in many countries for drinking water for entire communities. ---The best part is they add a beautiful waterfeature to your yard. If you choose a system with a booster pump it will pressurize the water too.

Got stream or pond algae?

Got pond or stream algae? Here are a few quick tips for an algae free summer:

1. Clean your pond. As soon as Jack Frost loosens his icy grip it is time to clean your pond. Remove the living creatures. Place them in holding containers with water from the pond. Pump out the old water. Remove all debris (dead plant matter, leaves, acorns....). ...»

Did you know that daylilies are as delicious as they are beautiful?

Did you know that daylilies are as delicious as they are beautiful? Spring shoots can be cut and fried like pea pods.(Don't worry one cutting will not take away any of the beautiful blooms) Flowers (stamen removed) make delicious additions to salad (taste like a sweet lettuce) or can be stuffed with egg/chicken/tuna salad.

Water garden flowers for New England Ponds

Selecting flowering plants for NE ponds can be challenging. The little fringe flower is grown in the north as an annual, and has fabulous star shaped fringed (as its name suggests) flowers and mottled lily like leaves. Though the flowers are only about a quarter in size their color really makes them pop.
