  • The stove is my favorite part. 1959 GE stove FREE from Craigslist. The chandelier was $2 at a yard sale. The mirror is an unconventional "pop" of contrast above the stove. 5
  • The cabinets are a little wonky as they tend to be in old farmhouses so we covered it with a painters drop cloth.
  • Collections
  • The flooring was bought on sale at Lowes. Peel and stick tiles that we did ourselves.
  • Glass knobs from Hobby Lobby on sale for $1 each
  • I added an old broken top from a mirror above the window.
  • My kitchen island was a cabinet pulled out from curbside, given a fresh coat of paint, glass knobs and a marble top {Also a great score on Craigslist}.
  • Cake plate collection lines the upper cabinets.

Budget Friendly Kitchen Makeover

Our kitchen needed a lot of help when we moved into our 100 year old farmhouse. Previous people who lived here had ripped up the floors and left nothing but cheap particle board down, the ...»
glass in the built in cabinet was broken out. We had to fix it up on a budget of $200 and that including new flooring.

Design & Décor: WANTED: Decorating Advice!

I recently purchased these two beautiful mirrored chests to go on either side of my fireplace. Now the dilemma! What to put on the wall above them? I want to keep the mirror which hangs above the fireplace so that leaves me with the options of artwork, some kind of architectural pieces, vintage shutters, etc. What would YOU do? Thanks for any advice you can offer and PLEASE don't comment on the accessories on the mirrored pieces as I just threw stuff on there for sake of the photo. LOL! ~Vanessa

symetrical .. I know cause my whole life is symetrical. I am not loving that mirror it feels crowded... I visualize something botanical to soften the space.

Herringbone Paint Stick Tabletop

I adore this herringbone pattern table from Karianne at Thistlewood Farms. She used paint sticks on top of a table and then stained it. Gorgeous and cheap!

DIY Mirrored ceiling medallion

We wanted a mirrored ceiling medallion and couldn't find one under $500 so we made our own for about $30 out of candle plates from Hobby Lobby. You can read about the room makeover here. http://bella-tucker.com/2011/06/tween-room-m...
