Our mirror mosaic fence. We had a blast creating this. Amazing what can come from a broken mirror mishap.

Found during demo

Over the years, we have made some interesting discoveries during project demo. Frequently, we unearth old newspapers like this one yesterday from 1940. "4 grapefruit for $.17... lamb chops $.25/ lb" tells a story of the good old days! Have you ever made any great discoveries during a project?

Yes, when I bought my house and started stripping decades upon decades of painted over ...»
wallpaper? Underneath the last layer were the words "this house was built May 27, 1927 by ____________". The builder of my home. Underneath that was written "This house was wallpapered by such-and-such in 1988." I wrote above it. "This house was completely renovated starting April 28, 2011 by Tamara L. Keegan". I almost want to frame it out and leave it as is.

Painting: Every Monday morning starts with a trip to my favorite thrift store -

Yesterday I scored a very nice French Provincial style desk. I stripped the top in prep for Dark Walnut (my fav) stain. What color should I try on the body and drawers? Any suggestions? Here's the color chart. http://cececaldwells.com/paint-color-chart/

A way to add color and insulation to an old plaster wall without major construction.

I used insulation foam boards, cut into 15"x15" squares. Than I covered each with batting and fabric using duct tape. To hang on the wall I used double-sided velcro so they can be taken down to clean, or rearranged. It really made this drafty room so much warmer.
