Flooring: I need some help.

I have a house that was built in the late 70's. I want to remove the carpet and have wooden steps, but when I pried the carpet up to take a peak, they are "scrap" wood and their is a gap ...»
between the treads and the walls. I do not have open spindal railings; there are walls on both sides. I don't even have the board that runs along side the steps, just the wall. What do I need to do? Replace both the treads and risers?

  • The before photo. Wallpaper everywhere, no fan so there was peeling wallpaper and pink tile everywhere!

This is a wonderful example of taking a 1960's original master bathroom in dire need for an update to the next level.

If you are remodeling a very small space, it can be more complicated than it seems because of logistics and the fact that you will notice every little detail in a such a cozy area. This bathroom is only 4'x7' in total.

  • Subway tile with some character with a tile wainscott and tile chair rail around the room created just the look our homeowner was trying to achieve.
  • The vivid cobalt blue glass gives a beautiful splash of color
  • The Danze Parma shower head
  • A cubby for soap and one for taller shampoo make for a nice touch and keeps the tub deck clean
  • This is our sad little before photo. You will see the water stain in front of the tub which was caused from failed caulking.

Here is a hall bathroom that was in need of help!

The homeowner called in a panic with a huge stain on the floor and was actually happy that it was finally time to remodel.

One of my favorite kitchen layouts.

The size of the island, the additional seating for entertaining, the dark beams add gorgeous contrast and the stone brings in the natural element.

WOW!

It definitely IS beautiful. I love the feel of it. I can only dream of this kind of kitchen ...»
though. The island would take up my whole kitchen!

Design & Décor: I am re-doing my office space (in my house) and decided that I would keep the budget LOW!

1. Because that is the responsible thing to do

2. Because I change my mind--ALOT and I apparently did not get one of those trees that ...»

grow money when we moved in..

Not to mention that I am a totally "instant gratification" person and my attention span is short.

I went to Marshall/Homegoods, Target, KMART, Bed Bath and Beyond to find my new stuff

Total jackpot!

I am going with the burnt orange, green and teal color scheme

currently we have brown funiture, heart of pine flooring, white bead board on all four walls and beige paint

Black/white zebra print 5x7 rug---$35

Orange retro lamp--$29

Textured fabric to cover a chair pillow--$13 per yard (need 1/4 of a yard)

Key to entire project--decluttering and cleaning out my STUFF

Baskets, organization and simplicity....

Few hrs worth of work, refreshed state of mind, still money left over for new shoes!

Easy, inexpensive way to freshen up any space

What do you think?
