sure what color I wanted to use as I like lots of color., so I decided on an off white we had stored in the garage,I could esily paint it aging if I did not like the results"right" I distressed it by removing paint with a scrubby pad in the accent areas I wanted to bring out the scalloped design.

I finished painting my kitchen countertops this weekend.

Total project was about $60.00. ($17.00 for the Primer, $20.00 for the Countertop Coating and $20.00 for the Polycrylic). I already owned the paint, but that was about $15.00 worth. I know they sell kits for this kindof thing (made by Gianni or Rustoleum), but I wanted to go with a different paint scheme. I got the original idea from a blog (creative Kristi's) Total process took about 3 days

butcher block probably will not be nearly as much. I found one at a salvage store for $50, cut it to szie, sanded it--rounding the edges, and sealed it with a wax for this purpose purchased at HD. I still use a cutting board because I do not want to mess up my top. I love this look.
