  • So peaceful.
  • My little corner of the world...
  • Old fashioned hydrangeas--they turn color depending on the nutrients in the soil. This one is pink, lavender, and blue.
  • The hydrangeas have overtaken the park bench.

  • Windows in Nursery 2

Design & Décor: We have 3 windows & are unsure how to decorate them for our nursery. One valance w/ sheers? Separated? Panels?

HELP!!! Please suggest some (visual) options for us. We'd like to showcase the windows, rather than cover them up. But with the different sizes, we are having a dilemma.

Thanks so much in advance!

A lot of good ideas here. Are you going to do this yourself, or just 'buy' something? If you ...»
can sew - there are so many beautiful materials with "wonderful" patterns for either girls or boys. You can make an easy baby quilt with matching bumpers pads quite easily & then your window treatment. I'd decide on colors, themes (animals, flowers, etc) first then decide on the window treatment.

Gardening: Does anyone know what this is?

I know these photos are not great, but all I had on me was my cell phone. This was growing at a client's yard and we noticed it blooming in a very shady corner near their house. I am ...»
struggling to identify it. I took these photos on May 3, 2012.

It reminds me of Winter Jasmine (Jasminum nudiflorum) based on the leaves and similar shape of the flowers, but the flowers are appearing on the ends, not along the stems like Winter Jasmine. It is also not the season for winter jasmine. Thanks for the help.

I think you would very quickly 'tire' of the one on the left. Go with the "right" one - but - ...»
I would change it a little to something in that shade line but with a little added warmth & that would go better with all your furnishings.

Repurposing & Upcycling: Does anyone know what this is?

Just turn them upside down and open them, then insert a roll of paper towel and tada, you have yourself a brand new paper towel holder that is not only beautiful, but has history and meaning!

Found during demo

Over the years, we have made some interesting discoveries during project demo. Frequently, we unearth old newspapers like this one yesterday from 1940. "4 grapefruit for $.17... lamb chops $.25/ lb" tells a story of the good old days! Have you ever made any great discoveries during a project?

When we gutted to reno our kitchen we ripped out the wall across the front of the house so we ...»
could properly insulate. Amazing what we found that previous owners used for insulation - old rags - including a very old pair of red longjohns & newspapers from the 20's. We also found a "Treasure Map" that some children had left. 2 - 3 years later when we cut down a tree in the back yard & had the root pulled out - out popped the "treasure".. an old mason jar with a few coins & some old jewellery! Great fun!
